Because he's old and he's not up for full-timing it anymore, I think. He'll show up when he wants to.

Its going to be really sad when he dies. I used to dislike him but now it doesnt feel the same with out him. Their replacement guys are no where near as good as his old senile ass. Atleast he is honest and doesnt sugar coat ****.

Merchant's absence was the most significant thing about the HBO broadcast team yesterday. He was seriously needed.

Yeah I used to hate him too, but he is a really good comentator who tells it like it is, at least he would have let the PBF vs Mosley discussion get more heated after the Marquez fight, than that Kellerman ***** ass who didnt let them get started.

Oh my god... If he had been there last night people would have died, atleast Max tried to get Lampley back to reality from time to time...

I was saying the same thing last night, Jim and Larry are necessary for a big fight, Max and Uncle Tom Steward are like two little kids. There were several times last night When Manny would go on and on about **** that had nothing to do with the fight.

I never used to really like Merchant before i was big into boxing years ago. But the last few years i think he knows more than just about all the other boxing commentators HBO have, hes knowledgable and is a much better interviewer than Max Kellerman who i think has grown too big for his boots.

Hopefully his inevitable replacement is as witty as Merchant.

"That whale has just been harpooned"
"He has two punches, pit and pat"

Merchant is being phased out. Because of this, they need to allow Kellerman to work some of their bigger fights to get some experience. Merchant will work the Mayweather/Mosley fight. That should be interesting.

I wish larry would have been there and done the post fight interview with team pac. i think he would have pinned them down more about their stipulations for fighting pbf.
