This fight did nothing to bring the casual fan into boxing more. This is why we are the only ones who really care about the sport. This fight probably hurt boxing more than it did good. It so boring and uneventful. I took my wife to the bar to watch the fight with me and she was like wtf is this. She has watched Williams vs. Martinez, Alexander vs. Urango recently and thought this fight was a joke. I told her Pacquiao is suppose to be the best fighter in the world lets go watch this. She was very disappointed as was i.
It doesn't matter what we expect or think, we will all be back. What matters is the casual fan, got it? this hurt the sport and there is no way around it. Even if the main event was what it was put together a decent undercard for $50
this is why im so pissed with clottey its not like when he threw he was missing or having no effect , quite the opposite when he did actually throw he had sucess
maybe you should check recent UFC pay per view buys before you spout off. They have fallen off a cliff.
I saw all those fights, and Cotto, Margo and Judah isn't Manny first of all, secondly Clottey showed his weaknesses against both Cotto and Margo. In the Margo fight he stopped punching in the second half of the fight, he blamed it on breaking his hand. Which seemed reasonable untill he did exactly the same against Cotto, he basicly gave the win away in both those fights. So why would one think that wouldn't happen again last night? It just looked worse because Manny is a much better fighter, quicker, etc. so it was basicly impossible for Clottey to counter once Manny let his hands go. And to get a little over 2 months notice for a fight of this magnitude, counts as last minute in my opinion, replacement, he couldn't even get his trainer in the country...
So that was an acceptable card then? Great business plan you have if you think you can put that garbage on and continue to grow your business. **** UFC in this thread, this isn't about them, this is about boxing, and boxing ****ing suked last night.
That's only because the caliber of fighters showcased on said cards has "fallen off a cliff." The return of Lesnar, A. Silva, GSP, Penn, Mir, Griffin, etc. will lead a "resurgence," if you will, in UFC PPV sales.
horrific card. I didn't pay, i saw it at a bar. I order a ton of PPV's, but this card did nothing for me and I wasn't lining Arum's pockets this time.
Top Rank had a great opportunity to hook casual fans on boxing and failed.Manny was being Manny and no fault can be contributed to him,but that undercard.****'s sake Bob,who put those "fighters" on this card?:-(
the guy made a point to say no wonder people are turning to UFC. As if their cards are all great. People aren't paying for **** cards, no matter what sport is involved.
Then you are a smarter man than I. Then again, I didn't have a bar to go watch it at so I was stuck buying it. I figured Clottey would spend too much time covered up but that was just pathetic. He did more damage to Pac last night than his last 4 fights combined and looked absolutely horrible doing it. Even if he would've fought like he did against Cotto it would have been a show.
he's got a good stable, but he only puts his young guns on Pinoy Power or Latin Fury. He is a ****ing turd.
