I can't see Povetkin beating Wlad or Vitali either. I do think something is fishy, with the guy's he's fought so far. He needs to step up and fight someone dangerous, before he goes in there with the Klitschko's...

Think about it. Povetkin dropped 5-way combos and multiple series on Mora's chin and Mora at times looked completely unfazed. Whatever little punching power Povetkin ever had is gone.

Wlad may have a weak chin but Povetkin will have a hard time reaching it without getting tagged himself. Heck even those slow-mo shots of Moras found Povetkin's chin, what is Pov going to do when Wlad fires a straight right sledge hammer? Stand there and pray?

Don't forget Povetkin is managed by Kalle Sauerland, Wilfried Sauerland's son. Think of him as a German version of Carl King, heir to the throne of Don King. The sons are looking for a prestige project to gain credibility and the respect of their old man. Signing Povetkin was a huge prestige win for Kalle, as he went running his mouth in the German media that "all the other promoters wanted to sign Povetkin, but he only trusted me".

Now Kalle Sauerland is too shy to risk his big investment. He must feel like leading his hand-nursed lamb to the slaughterhouse.

Wlad will likely decapitate Povetkin, then what?

They could still try and send him in against Haye with the options they have on him. Will probably be their last ditch effort trying to recoup the money they invested into Povetkin.

Povetkin is more deocaretd in the amteurs, because he stayed there much longer. If Wlad wouldn't have turned por so young, he could have been an ATG amateur. It's useless to compare amateur careers of fighters like Povetkin or Slis to Wlad, because they stayed amateurs into their primes.

Povetkin is there to hit, which may work well with headgear in amateur boxing, where he was able to outwork opponents. Against Wlad, that's the wrong strategy.

Povetkin is a great challenger and has as great a chance as any at beating any of the champions with the tools he posesses.........

    God Bless...

No. I don't think Povetkin applys fast enough or heavy enough pressure to rattle Wlad. You need somebody with very fast feet and good headmovement to get to Wlad's chin. I would definetly give Haye a better shot.

Wlad will destroy Povetkin. Povetkin should have had that Mora out of there in one round like Iggy. He landed everything but the kitchen sink and still couldn't put him away. He still sits in the pocket and is an inviting target for jabs and straight right hands. Povetkin's best punch is his left hook but you can rest assured Wlad will know that and circle left like he did with Chagaev to neutralize Povetkin's only real weapon. And while Povetkin is very skilled on the insde, Wlad will never let him engage there and keep the tempo and distance on his terms.

Actually...Povetkin has ducked Wlad for 2+ years. He pulled out of their signed Dec 13 fight after tripping over a tree root. Then, when Haye got his yeast infection, Povetkin was offered the June 20th shot. Finally, Wlad went to Povetkin to schedule their fight but they wanted more time yet again so now he's fighting chambers...and if and when Povetkin actually takes his beating, Atlas will throw him under the bus like he's done in the past. Then the resident Klitschko haters will claim he's handpicking bums and sucks posting those uncomfortable pictures as support for their arguments.

Povetkin can't even beat Wald with a stick. Wald would take it from him and after finishing with him would use it on Teddy Atlas like the proverbial rented mule. Gets appointed the #1 mandatory and then decides he isn't ready yet? Please.

    No way.

I just don't see how he should trouble Wlad.

    BIG height and reach disadvantage
no power, average speed for a small man, questionable defense/head movement, not a great chin.

I think that this fight is much easier for Wlad than the Chambers fight and that after a long time Wlad will score an early knockout.

Chambers has hand speed, precision, good eye, Haye has speed and power (and a longer reach) but Povetkin?

Povetkin is too small and weak puncher to win against W. Klitchko. I'll give Helenius or Fury (already) much better chance to win Klitchkos

well if sasha has to fight Peter first then we may never found out because Peter will tax his ass! Sasha is way to easy to hit and does not posses the type of power to bother Peter. I love to see the rematch of Peter/Chambers because that Peter was pathetic coming in at 265 lbs and not motivated, the peter that came in at 237 lbs the other night is another beast

Povetkin isn't used to losing ... he beat everyone he faced in the Amateurs ... was a great kickboxers (which = good balance) ... and he's an undefeated pro. Now way that Wlad can go the distance with him.

Povetkin gets stronger and his workrate increases as the fight goes on. Wlad has a tendency to fade ... chins aren't go to play a part because there's no such thing as a chin in the HW division.

I'm sure that Teddy Atlas has Povetkin working on body work as well.

Wake up if you do not know who's ducking who. Povetkn earned his titleshot at Wlad 2 years ago, and from this time he is busy fighting anyone else than Wlad (and keeps fighting worse and worse opponents BTW). Finally even Chambers, who was beaten by Povetkin in IBF eliminator is trying his chancec against Wlad... but somehow Povetkin is still not ready.
