Where is the double standard? You can't say something is a double standard if someone finds one thing in boxing more entertaining than the other. And I'm not talking people, I'm talking styles. Floyd fans have a preference toward defense, making the guy miss and countering. Maybe they don't enjoy the explosive offensive dynamite as Manny Pac. That's fine, that's their prerogative. Doesn't mean it makes it a double standard. I might've enjoyed the Floyd vs Marquez fight more... but that might have done more with the environment I was in. Again, impressed with both showings... more so with Pac's display. Pac was just mesmerizing. Eventually Clottey became pretty irritable and frustrating.

As for your first statement. The boxer would be a sensation... Pac is a sensation and those who admit it are just denying themselves from the truth. I think most realize Pac is a sensation, though. Doesn't mean the fight would be.

I don't have a problem with him taking Clottey as an opponent. I have a problem with people who think that the win, or the way it happened, was something unexpected, ethereal, exalted. It was a keep busy fight against an overmatched opponent. That's what it was when it was announced.

And yes, a Bradley fight would have been more meaningful, and a better fight. Even a JMM rematch at 140 would have been.

But even if it had been an incredibly meaningful and historic fight it would have still been boring.

This forum is running rampant right now with a big ol' smear campaign.
When floyd outboxed marquez it was beautiful.
When manny outboxed clottey it was a fix.

Pac averaged something like 65 or 70 punches a round against Cotto. That's a very good pace, but he's not a Margo or a PWill who throws a hundred punches a round. He definitely takes breaks.

Doesn't look like you expected 1231 punches.

Pac is already a sensation. He was a sensation 3 fights before this one. Should he be more of a sensation for beating a guy he was expected to beat, in the way he was expected to beat him?

Nah, I didn't. I did expect him to to win a comfortable decision based on workrate. Which is what he did. Whether he threw 80 a round or 110 a round the outcome would have been the same.

I can admit floyd is an amazing boxer.

Floyd fans are the fan of 1 boxer.

About the same level of respect as he got before. He's the best fighter in the world. This performance didn't make him any better in my eyes. If punch output was a measure of ability PWill and Margarito would be the best in the world.

Thats it McGrain:good To call these mugs mental is to flatter them:lol:

It's truly been many many a year since i've been so exited about a genuine non HBO/TV manufactured fighter, I was thrilled also, every second of every round, he's truly a genuine throwback to the days of the warrior elite, duck no one & fight anyone.

I can't recall to recent memory another fighter who genuinely commits more than duty demands too his preperation/dedication in the application to his craft. His bravery is un-equaled,truly a genuine modern day "PHENOM"

I'd like him to call it a day now, he has nothing to prove to anyone as he's conquered Mt Everest more than once now & it goes without saying than Floyd Mayweather is no fool in not wanting to risk his future fistic $$$$ income against such a menacing foe as in Pacquiao.

    Ah, fair enough i suppose....

I will admit though that i did not expect pac to shut clottey out.... yes, the favorite won the fight he was expected to, but that doesnt mean i wasnt impressed.

How many times have we seen fighters seemingly befuddled and fustrated that they couldnt penetrate the shell defence? Instead of doing that, Pac worked around it throwing beautiful body shots, and his straight left to the body was superb in this fight. So the little things Pac did in there (trying to not sound like a nuthugger here because im really not a *******) actually did impress me.... he had Clottey reeling a couple times in a way i didnt think he could eather... so i think Pac impressed as much as a favorite can impress in a fight short of knocking his opponent out.

I agree about Bradley, and thats the fight i wanted.... but hopefully there will be time for that in the future, Bradley needs to build his name up (not for me, i want the fight right now but most people say he needs to build his name up) and make his scalp a bit more worth the accepting challenge. But yes i would have liked to see a Bradley fight, however, i cant fault pac for staying within the division he plans on fighting mayweather in. But at this point out, to me its mayweather, or bradley.... those are the fights im interested in for pac at this point.

JMM.... i just dont see it, Pac will get very little credit IMO at this point for beating JMM at a weightclass JMM shouldnt even be at, i mean, dont get me wrong, if it happens ive got no problem with it, but i kinda see it as a mismatch right now if the fights above 135... who knows though, i hope i see it but i want a mayweather/bradley fight first.

I can def see how someone could think the fight was boring.... but for my part Pac did enough to entertain me... but its not going to be a fight i watch 10 times or anything eather lol... so ya i can see how one would think its boring no doubt...

I'am suprised every time the little feller fights, less than 2 years ago Mayweather bugged out of the DLH re-match & DLH picked Pacquiao & we all screamed the house roof off at such a cherry picked miss-match & potential ring fatality seeing he'd only just had his 1st fight at 135. I've gone against him in his last 4 fights which is the pessimist in me & to be honest it's been $$$$ i'am happy to lose.

He is truly incredible & i'd like him to retire now & forget about Mayweather who we all know will never ever risk his HBO $$$$$$$ earning potential against such a dedicated & commited foe.

That shutout should bring the curtain down on a truly incredible career as he dos'nt need to be fighting this big guys anymore.

People think it was a fix? I think it's more about them demeaning Clottey. The only double standard is you trying to expose the normalcy of ESB tearing down the losing fighter... which is perfectly normal. After Marquez everyone talked about how Marquez had no chance anyway and Floyd was cherrypicking like usual. Floyd fans enjoyed his display... but what do you expect? Some Pac fans are talking about how the fight was very entertaining, or they just try deterring by talking about how boring Mayweather fights are. It's middle school bitter childish drama back and forth. Really sad that some people partake in this constantly.
