khan was filling stadiums in the uk with ease. he had a lot of support, but there is an element that really wants to see him get beat. but the main reason he left england was to train with freddy roach and get some recognition in america. after that brutal ko by prescott, frank warren had to throw caution to the wind and take a gamble with khan. so he brought in the best trainer in the world and khan went to him :deal
its the best thing that could have happened to him to be honest.

back on the subject of mexican talent being at a low, what do ya make of that young kid Guerrero? i didnt see it but ESB are giving him a lot of credit for his fight with Darchinyan! :think

It's a cycle guys... I am sure that Mexico will come back with their best very soon. Phillipines just have 1 guy so let them ride the waive until it lasts. Here in PR we have gone thru the same thing couple of times. We had Tito then Cotto / Calderon and for the close future Lopez unless he gets screwed in the process. WV2 is the best Jr around (aside of Floyd of course) and he has some skills that he needs to work on. There are 2 twin brothers in the island (Arroyo) that just jumped from Amateur to professional and they just had their first pro fight and came up with couple of KO's so there's promise here in the near future as I am sure that Mexico has some too.

I watched the fight and he took Vic's best shots without flinching. Incidentally, Barrera was working his corner.

 

I do feel though, that the Mexican boxing factory has slowed down a bit, compared to a few years ago.

I even heard Chololo Larios confirm it, a while back, in an interview.

He said that boxing's popularity in Mexico has regressed a bit because of soccer.

Most kids nowadays prefer playing football first, wwhen before, a lot of them would have chosen boxing first.

That was Marcos brother Jorge who was a trialhorse Bantam in the 90s.

 

Mepranum utiilzed his superior reach and movement to completely nullify Marquez.

Marquez clearly could not get inside for 10 rounds and when he finally did he could not put together anything meaningful.

It was a good display of technique over brawn.

Amazing that Soto won a title in a third division last night...

 

Glad to hear he will be fighting in April, was starting to worry about him he was fighting every month, then he just dissapeard for almost a year. THink he had hand injuries. From what ive seen he looks like a big Puncher and a big Supermiddle.

 

At times Soto looked brilliant and other times kind of not so good. Looked great in the beginning and the end, but let Diaz back in the fight. I was actually smelling an upset around the 10th but then Soto stepped it up.
