it's all over the reports. What remains unverified is his percentage share of PPV. He may have his share for PPV 300,000 buys and above

To be fair he did stand in the ring for 12 rounds and get 1200 punches thrown at him id say he probably earned it

    Yes.

Part of what he's getting paid for is the burdens of publicity and exposure. Part of what he's getting paid for is being a factor in selling the event. Part of what he's getting paid for is the risk of being utterly humiliated in a public place on international television.

So, while he didn't put up as much of a fight as some of us were hoping for, he's certainly earned his slice, particularly when it's a relatively small slice considering what others are making. It's interesting that you ask, "Does Clottey deserve his paycheck?" and not, "Does Arum deserve his paycheck?". By my reckoning the second one is more debatable than the first.

Back in the day the would have held his purse for a performance like that. And boxing was on two good legs back then... Should an accountant, bartender, or garbageman get paid just for showing up, or should they have to actually work to deserve their paychecks?? Boxing is his goddamn job.

And when you bring a career like Clottey's to the table, I'm sure they'd jump at that offer.

I can name at least 15 welterweights that would've did more to earn that $2.5 then Clottley did. With the "career" he's had he should've showed a little more respect for himself.

Guys like Clottey, Ibragimov and Johnson should have part of their purse denied if they don't come to fight. Let's say they get 25% of the original amount for getting their head mashed in, but the other 75% should go to charity or whatever, but definitely not to the boxers.
