I didn catch the fight Saturday night but I read the round by round on here so I got the play by play. I have read several articles from different places and all I here is the fight sucked. I guess its safe to say Manny had his first Floyd moment. P4P 1 in his first defense on PPV he had a stinker. Now he knows what it is like. Was this fight worse than any of Floyd's PPV or on level. I enjoyed Mayweather's Hatton and De La Hoya bouts but not the Baldomir one. So was this more boring than the Baldomir fight. I read that Clottey was in his shell the entire fight except for the 3rd he did nothing. Is this true or did he land anyhting of note throughout each round. Was this really a test for Manny at a higher weight. Did Manny fight good given the tactics of his opponent. All I read was he didnt do anything spectacular just won via volume like a Wright Williams scenario and all he hit was arms and elbows. Any insight would be nice.
Manny did all that could be done given Clotteys reluctance to do anything other than survive. He was firing off fluid combinations all night and his ability to adjust his body to allow him to throw from all angles was fantastic as usual. he was even leaving himself intentionally open at points to try to get Clottey to engage but the mental midget was content to lose every round and go the distance.
am not a pacman fan at all, but pacman was doing everything he was throwing 9o punches a round, clottey didnt want none of it. #it wasnt pacmans fault that clottey didnt open up.
I thought Pacs work rate was unbelievable... To be honest, he didn't give Clottey the chance to throw many punches, even when pac did leave himself open. I thought Clottey had a good game plan, let Pac wear himself out and unleash some power in the later rounds... but Pac never wore out!
Clottey's best rounds - and i use the word 'best' loosely, were 7, 11 & 12 - He threw some uppercuts, left hooks, straight rights, knocked Pac's head back a few times, that was it - I gave Pac every round, felt like giving one to Clottey out of sympathy, but thought f*ck it - Pac deserved every round.
Thanks for the info guys I'll just have to chack it out on the free replay next week did Pac say who he is fighting next or if he is fighting next or doing politics or just retiring. Or did he do what I hope and called out Floyd
Not exactly. Floyd is the reason that Floyd fights are boring. Floyd likes there to be as little boxing activity as possible. Manny was throwing punches all night long.
Clottey was very hesitant to let that guard down, everytime he did he got popped......then he basically just went back to his shell. Round eleven clottey opened up a bit and pac landed more than 30 punches, throwing over a hundred.....pac's best round by far and a good example why clottey was never in the fight...pac was on top of him at all times.. And no, baldo vs pbf was an absolute snoozefest. At least pac came to fight, gave his best...pac alone threw 1200+ punches...baldo vs mayweather probably wont add up to that
Pac showed up to fight, he was letting his hads go. Clotteys was being overly defensive and wouldn't engage with Manny. Clotteys defense was tight, fustrating Pac early on to the point that Manny threw a right and left hook at the sametime and clapped Joshs head. Manny did start finding his opening, especialy in between joshs elbows, hitting the pit of the stomach. I give Pac his credit, he showed tremendous speed, boxed effectivly, displayed incredible conditioning, and took all the shots from Clottey very well to my surpeise.
