I used to love this sport. I just dont understand the opportunity that Clottey has just thrown away. Is anybody in agreement that this sport needs to be seriously regulated. ITS BEEN GOING ON FOR YEARS. Not knocking Pac-Man, (A huge fan)<but i got the feeling that the POWERS THAT BE told Clottey to shut it down after scoring shots that were busting Manny up a bit. Clotteys trainer told Max Kellerman that CLottey wasnt throwing cause he was scared of Mannys power..THIS IS THE MAN THAT WENT TOE TOE WITH MARGARITO!!! There are many people in my gym thats not even close to Mannys level as a boxer. But i guarantee you that with the hunger and attitude that will me brung to the ring,,,IT WILL BE A LOT BETTER FIGHT THAN WHAT I JUST PAID FOR!!! I'll ask again, What percentage of this game is real and whats set up??? What do you think???
Clottey was never a high output offensive fighter. When Pac's team made the fight they knew Clottey's style, and that Manny would win a decision on points based on speed, output and footwork. But no I don't think the fight was a set up.
Many fans are sensitive on this forum when it comes to their fighter. I feel you're asking a legit question. Personally, I don't believe that the fight was fixed. Clottey is simply not good enough to beat Pacquiao. However, it wouldn't be out of the realm of possiblity that he was influenced not to give it his all. This is boxing, there have been plenty of fights that have known to have been fixed. People question whether baseball, basketball, and football games are fixed. I see no reason why you can't quesiton if a boxing match was fixed.
Don't go too far. Clottey was terrible and he doesn't have the fighter mentality. That's way he never won a meaningful fight and was afraid to exchange with a smaller man. Apart from that he is a nice guy. talented fighter and so one who cares.
Just because you pay for a fight, doesn't guarentee you'll be entertained. Some fights just suck, often because one guy can't keep up with the other. Clottey got shut down by Paq's speed and workrate. No conspriacy, and Clottey just didn't decide to just collect a paycheck in his biggest opportunity yet. Bad fights and bad performances happen.
