I hope Miranda is in the shape Pantera2000 is talking about, because if he isn't, he wont last long..! Maybe being top shape, and having the right gameplan (unlike vs Ward) Miranda will be able to last 12 rounds

Miranda is always talking on how he's in the best shape ever. That doesn't change the old problems with the lack of basic boxing skills and his terrible defense.

 

He actually showed better defense in the Ward fight and has since changed trainers. Well, pretty much everything. We shall see though..

miranda is a stepping stone... gives people a notable tough fight. I'm not a fan of bute..
but..if it's close and goes to the judges they will give it to Bute. fighting miranda will show me something about Bute.

Eli Sechback seems to like Edison... he shows that he is a down to earth cat. He's over at Goosens more than he is around manny

 

Bute is riding a career high in confidence, with several very nice wins behind him; where Miranda's basically coming off a loss. You can throw away the Sierra blowout...ignoring the guy's deceptive record he is total filth, and a two minute destruction of him counts about as much as a 1st round KO of the dried out husk of Maskaev counts on Nagy Aguilera's dossier.

And I think regardless of what his gym buddies and yes-men say, Miranda knows it. He's getting accustomed to taking beatings from elite boxers on pretty much an annual basis. He's due for his 2010 thrashing, and feels it in his bones.

The staredown will reveal this. All Miranda's false confidence will melt away before the call of "seconds out". Face to face with his new daddy, he'll have conceded with defeat in his eyes before the opening bell.

 

His defense was much improved, but his telegraphed right hand was embarrassing. His offense took a nose dive in that fight. I am hoping Joe G can keep the defense where it was with maybe a little improvement, but most of all bring back the offensive attack that Miranda had in the past.

It's funny you mention the staredown because I remember that look that Pantera used to have. It reminded me of the crazy Tyson look. You see it the best in the fight against Eastman. You just knew Miranda was going to go for the kill and had all the confidence in the world.

Against Abraham in their second fight Miranda pulled some Stevie Wonder moves during their faceoff.

I believe Miranda still has all the confidence he needs, especially having Joe Goossen as his teacher for almost the past year. Hopefully it is the missing ingredient of his past losses.
