What a night that was. My dad is tight as **** and couldn't justify paying for Sky Box Office, i was too young to just 'order it anyway and face the consequences', so i was woken up by him at half 4 and LISTENED to the ****ing thing on Radio 5 Live. Bruno was a beaten man as soon as that fight was made, in fact the night he beat McCall at Wembley he probably though uh oh what have i got myself into. Great undercard too, Don King used to stack those shows in the 90's!

 

For all of King's many faults as a human being he put on some truly fantastic cards in the 90's.

Nice little domestic card at York Hall, where Lee Blundell handed Ryan Rhodes the 3rd loss of his career with a 3rd round stoppage.

Everytime i watch this it always amazes me how much punishment Taylor took and how easy he was to hit even in those early rounds. Chavez basically cought him with almost every power punch. Taylor was a great talent, but such a dumb fighter, kinda reminds me of Shane Mosley in the sense that his speed blinded people to his many flaws.

Btw it was clear who the HBO commentators wanted to win this fight, alotta cheerleading going on.

Chico was a monster at 130 and looked unstoppable until he ran into Floyd, although he had problems with the weight and a looming prison sentence. I still think whatever Chico turned up that night Floyd was just too good. He carried some power down at super featherweight as well to go with his speed, defence and ring generalship, which he lost as he moved up through the weights.
