Winning a vacant belt means you fought at least a high ranking fighter the WBC just gives interim belts away pretty much you dont even have to win them sometimes. AND if you win a vacant title you are that organizations champion with the interim belt there is already a champion.

And when Soto beat Juarez In Jin Chi was the real WBC champion so what you think everyone should consider both guys "champions"???

And Juarez wasnt that good he was a hyped prospect but we all seen how he turned out. Still a very good win but that doesnt give him anymore of a claim to being a champion.

Yey i see your point if In Jin Chi didnt officially lose then he should still be considered champ, But i disagree on your opinion about Rocky Juarez. I mean he is not one of the elite guys in boxing but he is a legit top contender and only loses to elite fighters. As he showed in Barrera I and the Chris John fight. I can name a lot of fighters who have won titles that werenot as good as Rocky Juarez.

True but I dont think Juarez is that good. He either fights a top fighter and loses or he fights a bum and wins(sometimes doesnt he look good). And in the first John fight he got a gift and looked terrible. His whole career peaked in the first fight against Barrera. Then in the second fight the real Rocky showed up. Juarez is a "good" fighter but nothing more IMO.

I Dunno meng :? kid doesn't have the best start in his career he has 5 losses already. But hope he turns it around. Marvin is a good talented kid too he is younger than EDEN by 2 years. Both have a long way to go. But knowing the need for $$$$ they will be fighting an elite soon that's how it is money puts food on the table and pays the bills.

    Really?

I think he's an OK fighter, but I'm not a fan.

I dont think he's 100% ready for an OPBF (Orient-Pacific Boxing Federation) type of title challenge.

Maybe he should win and defend the local Philippine title for a while, before thinking of going for a legit world title shot.

Well, Melindo's not that great, either.

    Yet.

I mean Melindo's got a big heart, and he likes to mix it up, but in my eyes, he's at a top Philippine level fighter, right now. Not the best in the country, but he's right in there.

If he overreaches and bypasses the Thailand-Indonesia-Korea-Japan boxing circuit (he needs at least 2-3 years in there, maybe more) and jumps straight to the US/Las Vegas fights this year, I think he will lose.

He is a minimum weight you have to be fair to this kid. His chin is questionable too. His resume does not look too good either.

Do you think he could take Segura's big punch? In his last fight he gave his opponent an incredible beating... (partially the refs fault though.)

:D no ****. acouple of greats are on their way out and it's the end of the world now. there's abner mares, who just got robbed of a win over jhonny perez, canelo alvarez, brandon rios, chavez jr, alonso finito lopez, alfredo angulo, james delarosa born in tamaulipas, mexico. then there's acouple mexican americans or mexicans based in the states like freddie benavidez who's being compared as and fights similar to Sugar Ray Robinson and miguel angel garcia. any of those and i'll bet most of those will become champions in the not so distant future. champions are never born their made

hehe, Soto's not far off in age...

i dont think it has anything to do with Mexico. I dont think the lack of Heavyweights have anything to do with the US. Other countries are becoming more involved and developed into boxing, providing BETTER competition. Its really all about perception.

Just think. If the Russian & eastern-block fighters were never developed and exposed, we would have David Haye sitting on top of the division easily. And he would be dominating his class and im sure people would start comparing him to someone in the past since there's no one at his level. For all we know, he's the greatest thing since Lennox Lewis.

But the europeans ARE here, and they're stomping out their division. Exposure and development from other countries are just providing better competition that WASNT there before. Russia, Cuba, Ghana, Argentina, Armenia, Phillipines, were not well-integrated or developed into the professional boxing world, now they are...
