I dont think Paul can stand around and afford to have anymore British title defences, though if he wanted to win the belt outright i suppose Anderson, Dilks are winnable defences but i feel like Frank wants to move things on 1 So he doesnt have to face Groves 2 Paul will get caught out sooner or later and he wants to make as much money out of him as he can asap 3 Whilst Paul wins he makes money but when he loses he will feed him to Degale.
Magee is good money in Liverpool and decent risk reward for Smigga though he is the underdog if he wins he will go in with steigleitz in Germany probably lose but make a ton of money
PS i dont think Groves or Degale beat Smith atm i just think Frank is riding a train with Paul atm and doesnt want him in with Groves just in case and will be a good name on Degales record down the line if Degale progresses and Paul loses/goes on the slide

 

i am glad you put the bit at the end about groves and degale. They DONT beat him atm, and i think they struglle anyway when they are more seasoned. Magee is a winneable fight, as would be the stieglitz fight. I mean, i would have him with dilks in a heart beat, and kenny, although kenny would be a much harder fight (although i hear he didn't perform very well the other night, and some people had him losing the fight, not that that means much these days based on some of the plums having the smith dodson fight so close).
I would like him to win the lonsdale outright, as someone like smith deserves to have that belt outright, plus doing that and then going euro would give him the chance to build up to the euro/world fringe level.

Its a simple case of risk reward domestically there is nobody Paul can beat that would further his cause IMO, he just risks losing his belt and losing the opportunity of Magee and Steiglitz. He is only in this position because of super 6 otherwise he wouldnt have a look in. Smith Magee is 60/40 in favour of Magee IMO not bad at all though and Steiglitz i would say 70/30 in favour of Steiglitz both would be much better money than finishing off domestically if he wins who knows Bute might be intrested in a unification on HBO as Paul is a minor name there due to the contender and Bute really has nothing else to do whilst super siz is on the go. This has to happen before super 6 round 3 finishes as those that drop out will go straight back into title contention. Besides if Paul loses he can start again with Groves and Degale a bit further olong and he could still win the belt outright. Thats why i think Paul has to kick on asap.

 

I agree with kicking on, and pretty much everything you are saying tbh. I think he might change his mind about the scousers thing, and fight dilks, as i think dilks will start opening his mouth about him getting his shot etc.
But i am sure he wants to take the magee fight at the very least. Because magee is northern irish, would he be able to defend his british, as well as challenge for the euro?

 

Ye i think maybe the whole scouse derby atmosphere around the fight though great for the city probably is the best for the fighters because they are all fighting friends/sparring partners and its a bit divisive for the boxing community in the city i suppose having to take sides as everybody knows everyone. Though i think Dilks is a good shout so Magee British/Euro fight if he wins easy defence against Dilks? Dont know if that would be Euro as well or if he could just defend lonsdale probably doesnt matter as he could vacate Euro if Steiglitz fight was in place. Then he takes the Steiglitz fight if he wins world is his oyster if nt he drops back back down faces up and comers
