If Mayweather beats Mosley (clearly) who is P4P #1?

The fact that Mosley puts himself out of position by being too eager to take on challenges versus managing his career, but he wasn't "irrelevant". I exaggerated. To say Mayweather was ducking him is foolish. My point is that Mosley was in a perfect position AND calling out Pac. What happened?

    Solid.

Leftovers or cherry picked opponents, whatever... A W/L is only meaningful in context. ODLH was commendably reaching fighting Hopkins and faced FMJ in his ideal weight class. Hatton was overmatched, but the fight the fans wanted. Castillo was on a winning streak and a champ. ZJ signed the contract BEFORE losing and Mayweather honored it. Baldomir was the LEGIT lineal champ and was being "ducked" according to Brian Kenny. No comparison. What acolades did any of the guys have who faced Pac? What state of their careers? His only legit opponent was Clottey and he is coming off of a loss.

BS. Arum went in the press stating he saw no reason for Pac not to fight FMJ. After he met with Manny in PI everything changed. So Manny does have opponent preference issues. FMJ tried to fight Cotto. Arum said he wasn't ready.

Nothing wrong fighting Cotto and not Mosley? However something is wrong when you fight the legit lineal champ Baldomir and not some random guy with $8 million? Please.

Just funny I found a video of some white nerdy dude talking about floyd and pac.

Time will tell on this one. Mayweather only lost his spot because of retirement. Coming back and beating the #2 and #3 p4p fighters could land him his no.1 position back. I'll you what though, the winner of Mayweather/Mosley should definately be ranked no.1 at WW.

    It's too hard to say.

Depends on the nature of the victory - But a KO IMO would put him #1 and clearly.

Here's another thing, just because you retire and come back doesn't mean you start from scratch. Floyd got ranked #2 after beating Marquez. Marquez was no.2 but he was also coming up 2 weight classes. This to me indicates that he was placed at no.2 based on talent and career achievemnts. It's basically them saying that's where he would be ranked had he never retired. So if Floyd can lose his no.1 spot without losing, then he can gain it back without the new no.1 losing. It will be interesting to see what happens if he indeed beats Shane, and does it without controversey.

totally a mythical title of course- and so open to debate. i think if floyd kicks shanes arse- they deserve to share the title.

Floyd is totally expected to beat Shane without any controversy so I don't see how an expected result would change the status quo. You'd have to situate how easily the average fan expects Floyd to win the fight and set that as a barometer as to how much his stock will go up or down depending on his performance.

i should also add it depends how shane looks.

if shane walks out- and gets tapped on the nose and falls over- then people will say shane was dog****- and therefore the victory loses value. if it goes back and forth and is a close fight- then floyd blows shane out in the championship rounds- then closes the show- floyd will get major major props for fighting a good shane.

its similar to the cotto victory for pac. had cotto not put up a good rounds 1-4 pacs victory would have lost value- people would have said cotto was past it. but since cotto fought quite sharp- pac got all the credit he desrved. boxings full of **** like that.

Let me stoop to your level for a second:

Pac is not common. Pac doesn't do this "all of the sudden". *****.

    Another Floydette twist of reality.

    Clottey is unranked? Really.

He is not a P4P ranked fighter but he is ranked as a welterweight.

Mosley has his career in a deep slumber until he defeated the most one dimensional fighter in the entire welterweight and suddenly he becomes dangerous?

While I personally think that a Floyd victory over shane is not enough to push Floyd to #1 P4P considering how decisive Pac looked winning against Clottey, I totally agree that whoever wins that fight should be #1 at WW. I've always thought that Shane was the #1 WW and I really don't agree with putting Pac as #1 at the weight.
