I was among the first to say that Pavlik winning this wouldn't "prove" anything. It will just demonstrate the fact that KP can still beat the crap out of smaller guys who have defensive issues and questionable stamina. Provided everything plays out as it should, I'll rank this as Pav's 4th or 5th most important win.

The thing is, Leow, Dunkin, Arum, and Pavlik himself all wanted a fight as soon as February, and no later than mid April. Martinez is the best guy who is both available, and willing to fight.

Cintron has shown slightly more gumption lately, but I'm with you at about 60-40, Herm. Good call.

me and all my friends have watched KP come up and are dissapointed with all that has happened..but one thing we have never taken away is how he came up and fighting and destroying miranda (#1 vs #2) (also thats when no one wanted any part of miranda) and going to war with JT and getting off the canvas. forget that he lost to bhop, we gave him props for taking the fight...period. more respect goes to a guy who loses and faces the best than an undefeated guy who avoids it. so after this fight m i hope its back to elite guys so he can start getting back his props....so when that bar is set so high early on, it pains us to see too many lower guys in the ring with hi. and we know all the cirumstances to as why and we get it, but as boxing fans we want the best in with the best and it doesnt happen often but he was doing it for a nice little streak, so we got spoiled

yes there is a video saying that. the man (calzaghe) got $$ signs in his eyes when he realized he could co-promote a fight with a living legend at msg. plain and simple.

He got tombstones in his eyes at the thought of fighting Pavlik.

Hermit, I know you love your boy and all, and I respect that... but you really, really think that Pavlik has a chance versus Calzaghe at 168? A punchers chance sure, that's it.

Hmmm...I defend Pavlik against unfair criticism any time, but Calzaghe would have won every round againts him. Calzaghe had his management problems alright, but he unified his title twice in a year against undefeated belt holders who were both favored by many experst to beat him. I don't think he was afraid of Pavlik.

Really isn't the point. Even Joe's most ardent supporter on this site was so disgusted with Ole Joe that he posted a lambasting of JC and pretty much quit posting.

And a chance? Boo predicted that Kelly would clock Ole Joe coming in bent over at the waist. What did Jones do? Jones was late on the punch and got him with a forearm. What if Kelly had landed that punch clean? The bad part for Joe is that Kelly doesn't put guys down with one punch often. Well sometimes after thinking a split second they have enough of their wits left to take a knee. But Joe probably wouldn't have gone down and allowed Kelly to continue the assault. Kelly knows how to close the show. People sometimes think Boo gets overly long on some of his analysis because they really are only here to do fan boy taunts. Read and learn.

There are numerous citations in thread gone by, not to mention Joe's own autobiography where he states he would never fight a shot to **** Jones and Pavlik was "the fight".

The point is that it is historical fact that Joe mentioned Kelly almost as Froch mentions him for a while and when it came time to sign the fight he wouldn't take it.

Martinez has never even fought a legitimate middleweight. On April 17th he will find himself looking across the ring at one of the biggest middleweight champions in history.

So Goosen, Peterson, and Williams ran away from a career high pay day even though all PW had to do was face one of the worst champs in history? Isn't that a little humiliating?

Additionally, the claim to "Lineal Middleweight Champ" is not as good as beating Cintron....

Boo you know I gotta mess wit ya!!!!

But......... You also know the whole time line of events that lead up to the fight not happening too!

You also know that Team Williams said before the Martinez fight that they are finished with Team Pavlik and their sloppy business practice so I don't have to remind you!!!

All I know is I will be in A.C April 17th with a Argentinian flag drape over my back like a cape!!!!!:D
