sounds like Landon is just re -affirming what Arum's evaluations of both camps were. "I think, in general, both guys looked very, very good," Arum said. "Cotto looked strong. He's Cotto. He works hard for two hours. He does all his sparring. He's in tremendous shape. I know Cotto works hard, but in contrast to the other guy [Pacquiao], it looks like he's taking a vacation. Pacquiao goes for, like, four or five hours. It's amazing. They train differently. Pacquiao is so work-intensive. It's like nothing I've ever seen. "Cotto does the workouts like a Marvin Hagler or Sugar Ray Leonard, two guys I promoted. They were all business. They'd come in, do their workout, spar hard and be done. When I was with Cotto, I saw him do 10 rounds one day and six rounds another day. He looked good. He'd do his two hours and be done. After two hours, Manny's just getting started. I'm glad Manny pays Freddie a lot of money, because he earns it." Arum also noticed some other differences between the camps. "In Pacquiao's camp, there is no question who the boss is and that's Freddie," Arum said. "In Miguel's camp there's no question who the boss is either, and that's Miguel. They're different guys, different fighters, but whatever works, man.
Cotto never appeared to be a gym rat which always worried me, and probably never works out when he doesnt have a fight coming. That makes him gain a lot of weight in between fights. Manny is always doing sports.
I dont think you need a solid game plan for each and every fight simply becuase Manny Pacquiao is not going to fight Miguel Cotto the same way he did Morales or Hatton, and if you look its like Roach had said he took Miguel to the ropes in that fight. Sometimes you want to stay Fluid as Lamon Brewster would say, you want to be formless like water, that doesnt mean have no kind of stradegy it just simply means you never know whats comming at you in a fight and its best to be ready to adjust on the fly, I think the Cotto fight was Mannys tuffest fight recently no excuses Manny beat the man but what a fight it was
going what his trainer was saying his game plan was: 1- beware of the left hand 2- use his jab alot 3- keep Pacquiao on the backfoot
cotto's game plan has always been to outfight his opponents thats what he did at 140 (icardo torres) and at 147 (zab judah). as his career has developed so has his all round boxing skills as is evident against fights against mosley. he tried to outfight pac and i expected him to but pac took his punches better than any other fighter included margarito, when you saw cotto hit margo early in their fight you could see they hurt, but no one has taken cotto's punches as well as pac did.
I'd like to see the actual message as well so please pm me as well. But I think it'd be better for you to post the actual message here alot of people want to see it.
I good working sound corner can be vital in a time of crisis. Look at the first JMM-Pac fight for example. Marquez got knocked down 3 times, got his nose broken, and Nacho Beristein had just the right tone in his voice to get Marquez back to the track where he needed to be. Nacho had both words of urgency and calmness in that corner. ......."You cant stand in front of this guy!"...."Boxealo!" ......then Nacho is working frantically to repair the damage on Marquez' nose......but nothing else needed to be said because the different scenario's that one may come across in a ring is worked on in the Gym. .....Marquez injured, proceeded to take the 2nd round off, Pacquiao coming at him like a bulldozer, and Marquez only doing just enough to hold him off but not really trying to win the round.......thats just exactly the way he had to do it in that round to recover from the first round drubbing...... ......Scenarios, you work on those in the gym.....and the fact the Marquez twice has been able to escape a crisis situation to then know exactly what to do to adapt and get back on track is proof of it. .......then after the crisis has been passed, the good corner will remind you every round on tidbits that need to be followed to remain on track. The fighter is getting his head jarred in there, so he can easily lose focus and forget the keys to victory......they need reminders..... ......Sometimes its just the little things, a simple word or phrase that needs to be repeated to remind the fighter, you're having success, but if you dont keep doing so and so, you'll find yourself right back in crisis. It always helps though to have a capable horse in the game!:yep
was there any thread that you didn't mention your BF JMM? you are sick man atsch stay on the course. your obsession is getting weird.
The thread is about whether or not Cotto had a bonafiable gameplan going into his fight against Pac. I believe and I would think others would say I've contributed to this discussion by providing evidence of just how vital a good corner can be to a fighter. What other than being the troll you have always been have you contributed to this thread??? Civility is not your forte, so I would'nt expect you to come across in debate as someone who is knowleadgeable on the subject matter. In other words, you dont know jack about anything related to the sport of boxing.
