yeah. looks sore that eye. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kwRV0G5Fm1U[/ame] 0:52 is a ****in great combo. dodson thought he was gonna throw str8 right and when he went left, smigga goes left hook to the body, left right to the head. needs to do more of this. He didnt mention worl title so maybe franks told him theres no chance yet. glad to see hes concentrating on the euro first :good
Boys, i have just watched the fight back in its entirety. 1. not the best fight to watch i will admit freely. 2. Dodson was as negative a boxer as i have seen in a long time. 3. smigga did go in with the head a lot initially, and i think the clashes were 50/50. 4.cuts affected how paul fought to a certain extent rounds 2-6, as i think smigga thought he needed the KO 5. Once he came past round 6 and was catching dodson, and hurting him on ocasions, this is where the majority of the clinches were initiated by dodson, as he wanted to rub pauls eye, and tie him up. 6. although this tying up made paul look scrappy, i dont think there was a great deal that paul coud have done to look any better than he did, and he landed some classy shots, just needs to double up on the jab a bit more, and if he is going to go in wih the right hand, pull back a bit more. A step back after the right would set him up great. But to be honest, dodson was pulling smigga in, so he could not complete any work 7. dodson landed one significant punch in the fight, an uppercut in the 6th or 7th i think. I think most boxers can be guilty of holding in any fight, but it is part and parcel, but do me a favour, and if you watch the fight on frank warrens you tube page, switch off the volume, as colin hart makes me want to slit my wrists, and seems to understand less about boxing every time i hear him, and ian aixon the guy who write on his website, seems to have a problem with smith. Smigga did well, ok he did grind out the result, but was getting to dodson. But i saw flashes of the old smigga in the fight, i.e. good body punching, decent head shots, but not in one combination. Once he starts to put these together, combined with his good chin, and pure heart, magee will have problems with him, and he will trouble stieglitz too.
decent last couple of rounds, and parts of others that wern't too bad. Smigga made the fight tbh though, dodson came for some ****ing mma
paul seems to want to put maximum power into all of his shots, even steps in with the jab. He steps in with his jab all the time and tries to hurt his opponent with it, instead of using the jab as a range finder or a diversion shot so when paul jabs like this its hard for him to throw anything other than a straight right after it, which makes him predictable in my opinion. If he just calms down a bit and throws some small jabs before letting the big shots go he would most likely have more success. Take enzo maccrinelli for instance, just as an example, when enzo gets his guy against the ropes he normally throws 4 or 5 SMALL shots to the head, not to hurt his opponent but to distract him from the big body shots that follow. Paul just goes straight in for the big shots and 9 times out of ten his back foot comes off the floor and he falls into his opponent. As i said, he has been so predictable in most of his fights and his opponents know exactly what he is going to do so they just wait for the big right and bob away from it before grabbing him, this is the main reason why his fights with Quigley and Dodson where sloppy in my opinion. I wanna see him just finding his way in with small punches and then stepping off before letting the big punches go. Maybe having better opponents, or sparring partners maybe, will help him. Maybe he could spar with DeGale & co. :think I hope we havent seen the best of Paul Smith.
no ofcourse not. im just wondering if he would benefit from gettin in with some technical guys like the olympians :think
when did he spar with jeffries? I know he sparred with Macklin, hes also said he has to hold back when hes in with him :yep
