Another of Hatton's supposed big wins takes a massive hit

I don't think people generally gave Hatton Great credit for the Castillo win anyway.

Castillo got done and looked more than done, a while ago, before and after he got in the ring with Hatton.

 

I think the Castillo win was alrite i think it was a good win and Ricky was expected to win but the knockout was special and Castillo had never been knocked at high level before so to do so with a body shot was pretty impressive IMO so not necassarily that much credit for the win but the manner he did it yes

 

What bothers me when i do hear people praising that win is that before the fight as Betty Pointed out Hatton and the media were saying Hatton's fighting a P4P Top Fighter and built the victory up. It wasn't a prime Castillo people can argue if he was shot or not but he was most definitely on the slide before that fight.

I think he was stopped 2 times before that as well earlier in his career..might be wrong though,

 

Ye he was stopped in a few Mexican title fights but became a much better fighter after 2000 and mixed it at a top level and obv did v well

 

That's different, he was still seen as relatively hot before the fight and the betting showed that...

...but, judging by what went after (Hatton) with Castillo, I think even the most avid Hatton fans, in general, have mostly been relatively modest about the win.

I can't remember many posts saying Castillo was somehow at his peak.

 

Yeah hot by media and fans who really are casual fans. Anyone who saw the Ngoudjo fight knew he was on the wane you could see him being bullied and out fought by a relative nobody with a ok record and really he lost that fight.

 

Yeah Amir's had a fair few past there sell by date fighters on his record. He's only really stepping up into big league now.

 

Betty you useless ****, you've completely missed out on the fact that, five days ago, Ben Tackie lost an 8 round UD to some bloke called Dennis Laurente for his 6th straight defeat.

This a mere 6 years after Hatton scraped a narrow debatable points win over him.

Before the Hatton fight, Castillo was still seen as relatively live and certainly not seen as totally washed up.

And if you truly - at the time - believed otherwise, you'd be a multi millionaire right now, because the betting still had Castillo as a very decent operator.

 

He was not the fighter he was, I'm talking about media and a section of fans going on about Hatton's win as if it was sensational when it clearly wasn't. Castillo wasn't the force he was and no where near p4p level come that fight.

And yes i did truly believe Hatton would beat Castillo as i knew he would have to much for him as a relative novice in Ngoudjo beat him and wasn't given the nod on the night for obvious reasons.

A lot of people felt he could beat Mayweather because he beat ''p4p level'' guys like Castillo and Tszyu............
