I brought up ONE thing that I remembered from Boo's analysis at the time because of the Jones punch. Not like you will read this because it doesn't appear you read any of the rest of what was said.
Bottom line. Joe called Kelly out then turned tail and ran. Draw whatever conclusions you want, but where I'm from, a guy that calls you out and then runs from the fight is NOT considered the clear winner. I'm done here. I don't have time to respond to people that can't read.
It wasn't a punch - it was a forearm smash. Kelly would not be able to handle Joe - that is why Joe is a great fighter and Pavlik is just famous for being white.
Sickening how overrated Calzaghe is on this forum. To think Joe would make easy work of Pavlik is comical to say the least.
Joe would drop Pavlik like they dropped Pavlik's assault charges back in 2006. (lol at the tags: calzaghe pavlik, duckers, ***gits, frauds, pavtards )
A thousand polls on ESB will not change the historical fact that Slappy Joe turned down an offer of a reported $10 million dollars, ran like a frightened school girl, and hid behind Roy's corpse. That's history. Fast forward to 6:30. This nitwit calls out Pavlik AND calls Roy Jones shot in the same interview. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AWDtzdAYTOA[/ame]
I'm certain Calzaghe would have fought Pavlik if Pavlik got through Hopkins. The demand would have been great for the fight, and HBO would have promoted it to the hilt. He took the Jones fight as an easy payday to then set up a Pavlik fight and maximize profits. Pavlik then proceeded to get utterly embarrassed by Hopkins in a one-sided shutout. :rofl:rofl
I'm sure this number gets bigger every time you post it? Let's see, Hopkins and Pavlik got $3 million each and wasn't a big seller for HBO. So who was offering this extra $7 million out of their own pockets then? HBO? Bob Arum?
This. Calzaghe did himself no favours with how he went about things, but it's plain to see that all Pavlik had to do to corner Joe was to beat Hopkins. Joe gets lambasted from all sides for struggling to a sd win over a 43 year old man and is accused of ducking a legt threat in the middleweight champion. Said champion moves up to a catchweight of 170 with the intention of showing everyone how to beat a 43 year old man and what happens? Pavlik's showing in that fight should really end any debate as to who'd win between himself and Calzaghe, but the at the same time it's Calzaghe's actions/words that keep this debate raging on and on and on...........
September 29th 2007 Pavlik knocks Taylor out, and about 10 minutes later Calzaghe called Pavlik out. For the next several months Slappy Joe talked about wanting a fight with KP non-stop. January 2008 Joe calls Roy Jones a shot fighter, and calls for the winner of Pavlik/Taylor II in an interview on Sentanta. February 2008 Pavlik beats Taylor in the rematch; 115-113, 116-112, 117-111, and Slappy starts to grow quiet. June 2008 Pavlik destroys Joe's stable mate and fellow Enzo Calzaghe fighter Gary Lockett. Pavlik stands center ring and says he wants Calzaghe. Arum, Warren, HBO, and the entire boxing world calls for Pavlik/Calzaghe. All of a sudden Roy Jones isn't shot anymore, while Enzo and Joe both claim Pavlik isn't a big enough star for Joe. Even as they claim Pavlik isn't a big enough star they simultaneously claim Joe offered KP a fight after Calzaghe/Lacy. So, according to Joe and Enzo, Kelly wasn't a big enough star for Joe in the fall of 2008, but he was a big enough name back when his best win was Zuniga. Joe Calzaghe ran like a *****, and acted like a buffoon. That's history, and nothing will change it.
Won't stop then from trying. Can you imagine if Froch KO's Kessler? Dear Mr. Legacy, slipping away..... Boo. Pipe stopped by for a few. Nice to hear he is still alive. He has a sixth sense when it comes to Calzombies. :yep
