He was a cousin of my mate from years back just intrested what he was like as a fighter and I dont know anything of him just intrested what was his style potential ect....ect
Are you on about this guy? http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_id=5237&cat=boxer I've only seen his fight with Billy Schwer which was his last fight and up at lightweight. Looking at boxrec, it seems like he was a career feather. Tbh, he was outclassed by Schwer, he stood no chance in that fight.
hey fat mick, i think shaun murphy is good, remember he was world champ as well, before he won the british title. carrying a bit too much weight IMO though. good rivalry with maguire
Murphy was never a world Champion. He lost to Robinson for the WBO featherweight title, he was also outclassed by a class Colin McMillan. He was always up for a tear up and his fight with De Roux was a fight of the year candidate. A little susceptible to body shots. But a hard aggresive , game box fighter.
he was heavily favoured to beat de roux but looked like he was having trouble getting his punches off and lost his tittle and was never the same again , he was not an elusive fighter and would trade happily ,i think that his happy to trade approach caught up with him and perhaps with the strain of weight making these combined may of shortened his career . oh and i think he was a ginger
Fought the classy Minus far too early, but to be fair learnt from the defeat and improved no end. The De Roux fight was a bit of an upset, as some felt (me included) that Murphy may of had something to offer on the world stage. McMillan was approaching his pomp when he beat Murphy and Sean was brave taking his licks against Robinson. Overall Sean Murphy had some solid British level names in his win column (Doherty, Good, McKay and Honeywood) that suggested he may of been able to step up to the next level. But although never lacking in heart department and always giving good value for money, Murphy never did.
