Who has beaten more great fighters? Manny Pacquiao or Roberto Duran?

Only in the sense that had he won his ranking would have increased.

 

Well that is opinion. I will say he has put more into the sport of boxing and taken on the big challenges without blinking than Floyd has. All in all he has put more in boxing and done what great fighters do, but if Floyd knocks him out who would I think is greater? I don't know. It is hard. This is all subjective. It is hard for me to say Floyd is a greater fighter than Manny. I do not know why. If you rate it by ATG ranking Floyd is probably seen as 45 and Manny 25 right now. If Mayweather beats Mosley he goes to maybe 39 right? Then he knocks out Manny he goes to 25 -29 himself. Manny would in my mind go to about lets say logically 32-35. So on the list it says Mayweather is greater, in my mind objectivally somehow Manny stays greater. So there is a conflict between list and feeling. I will admit that.

...You do realize, mate, that there is no definitive list that is the end-all of the conversation? I mean, this **** is all subjective. P4p lists are like snow flakes...no two completely alike.

 

I just do not see how a loss to the greatest fighter you fought cannot affect ranking. In a sport like basketball I can see how if say Kobe Bryant has 4 titles he will always be great, but in boxing the ranking can be taken away if you are fighting the best you ever fought since that means you couldn't crack that level of fighter. So now the ranking would be clear. Pacman is greater than Delahoya, but not then Mayweather. Better than Morales and Barrera. Where would that put him. The head to head aspect is different.

 

Manny Pacquiao's ATG ranking can only decrease at this point if he was to test positive for performance enhancing drugs.

Reg Guttridge utilized similar logic to that of MAG on a Boxing show that has been uploaded on Youtube where a panel of so-called experts come up with a top 5 P4P list. Reggie proposed that Roberto Duran wasn't nearly as great as conventional wisdom would suggest simply because he had been knocked spark out by Thomas Hearns. That's a thought process I can't relate too, but perhaps you can, MAG?

When we speak of beating great fighters, I expect to be talking about beating that champ in his prime. PAc has not beaten a great fighter in their prime. People keep saying Barrera was prime. ****in liars lol... I truly can't believe PAc is actually mentioned in the same sentence as Duran lol... Duran is legendary for beating and losing to some of the very best boxers who ever lived... EM, MAB and JMM were great fighters, but they are not even remotely close to the level of comp Duran won and lost to. I told you the *******s are thee worst lol... Even when their man is under fire for taking PED's guilty or not they overrate their hero...

 

Who else were in their primes? lol A slightly past prime Morales beat him.. He had a draw with a prime Marquez.. So basically he beat Barrera on the top of his game only. So what about everyone else? On top of the catfish being gutted twice.
