Cotto has had a great career. Multiple titles, tons of cash, worked hard to develop a top set of skills and saw them pay his bills and enshrine his name.

    0. Cotto has achieved what many of us only dream of. We don;t know if either of those two accusations are true, probably never will, and as that stands, a loss is a loss. Happens to the best of em. Cotto has the bank account to comfort him any night he feels cheated.

but his opponent trains much harder and spars with bigger opponents. his coach and trainer have to restrain during training.

I feel bad because he lost his father after suffering some blows to his career and health (literally). If Margarito cheated, then a 10. I don't think Pacquiao is on steroids but if Margarito used loaded handwraps then Cotto was unjustly ****ed up on a fundamental level, physically and mentally, when he could have continued to be great and we may have seen a different Cotto against Pac. I'm not making excuses, the man lost, but that first loss being so brutal, and his second loss revealing a survivalist mentality instead of the fearlessness we're used to seeing....and on top of it all he loses his dad kind of soon after splitting with his uncle? That kinda sucks. a 5 if there were no cheaters, a 10 if there were.

I'm sure both Pacquiao and Cotto trained their asses off. Pacquiao is just better. That's just one example but I'm sure lots of fighters have trained hard for James Toney, probably harder than Toney trains, and then got their ass kicked by Toney.

My point is that I still feel slight sympathy for a fighter who puts in all that sacrifice of training every day, preparing physically and mentally for one day, and then gets his ass kicked in front of a crowd of people. Even if he gets a nice payday (but that surely diminishes my sympathy).

I think the sorriest I felt for a boxer was Pac vs Morales III

Indeed. Cotto left his victims battered. Some of the most gruesome batterings in recent years. The Universe has done it's work with Cotto. You live by brutality, you die by brutality. It happens everyday, everywhere. I feel bad for us all. That's who I feel bad for. Miguel Cotto has alot more than any of us ****wads do. Good for him. He knows it. Cotto doesn't hold his head. His head is held high.

Oh, for crying out loud...**** it, I'll play along...if I could make two six figure checks fighting one guy with illegal wraps and another guy on steroids, I'd take it...gladly.

The moral of the story? No, I don't feel sorry for Cotto. I respect him as a fighter, but I have a hard time feeling sorry for anyone who has that much more dough than I do.

Probably because it is pointless to feel sorry for something that doesn't exist or at the least proven yet?

Feeling sorry for Miguel is more like an insult. Warriors dont need sympathy.

I dont feel sorry for him, and he would probably laugh in your face if you tell him you feel sorry for him.

Miguel is a grown man, he does not need piti, this is boxing, it can be a dirty sport, Miguel still made alot of money and beat some good fighters. And if Margo did cheat in that fight, then Margo will get his in the end
