So your saying Manny is on Sugar Ray Leonards level? Also keep in mind the version of Duran that fell to Leonard the second time was NOT the version that pummeled Leonard the first time around. That version of Duran isn't falling to Manny and won't be covering up like Clottey did. He'd laugh at Manny's punches and I'm sure Manny wouldn't do the same. Ask Freddie Roach who would of won this one.

Barrera wasnt in his prime when he fought Pac.
    Barrera was on the downslide.
Tough fights were starting to show.
    Pac picked his spot.

You do realize that Duran didn't beat Hearns and Benitez... right? Duran fought plenty of great fighters... but he sure as hell didn't beat as many great fighters as Pac has. Sure... Duran FOUGHT SRL, Hearns, Benitez, and Hagler. The problem is that all of them beat Duran. The only one that Duran beat was SRL... which is great... but just one of the 4 that I mentioned. Let alone the fact that SRL came back and made Duran quit in the rematch. You guys are simply bending reality by acting like Duran beat all of these great fighters just because he fought them.

He beat the creme of the crop in Leonard aside from a very long list of hall of famers. Yes, he was inconsistent, but it was obvious he could of beaten several of the fighters he lost too, but he did like with Laing and Benitez. You also have to give credit for him being at a severe disadvantage coming from lightweight challenging the best WW's, JMW's, and MW's in the world. Yes, he lost to the greats and had an embarrassing loss, but cameback with a vengeance and beat many very good fighters like Cuevas, Palomino, Moore, and Barkley. Also keep in mind he was an underdog with Barkley and he beat Barkley after Barkley beat Hearns twice. It's like asking Juan Manuel Marquez to fight Kelly Pavlik and Marquez won.

he did not beat the creme of the crop aside from Leonard! Ray beat him in the rematch easily and then Duran went on to lose to everybody!!! Hearns -knocked out cold. Benitez-outboxed easily, Leonard -he quit, Hagler-outpointed If that is a top great then anyone can be top great anyone!!!. let us find another fighter who fought the greatest fighters ever but lost, and then we get duran!!!!!!

Duran lost to Benitez, got one punched into sleepyland by Hearns, lost to Kirkland ****ing Laing at welterweight and DeJesus at 140. He's no ****ing lock v. Cotto, by any stretch of the imagination.

Duran was fighting at 154 as early as 1978. That is like Marquez fighting at the higher weights in 2005. Roberto Duran beating Iran Barkley is not a great win. Not to me anyway. But to many others it seems to be. Duran fought enough middleweights over the years to be comfortable at the weight. After Hearns beat him in 1984, Duran came back in early 1986 and fought for 3 years as a middleweight until he fought Barkley.

How about the version of Duran that got clowned and very easily beaten by SRL the THIRD time, or the version of Duran that was handled easily by Benitez and Hearns?

Duran has ONE great win. ONE. UNO. His whole rep is based on ONE fight, and the fanatical nuthuggers that have attached to him. It's like if Manny whooped MAB, then got KTFO by Morales and easily outpointed by JMM, then MAB came back and took him with ease in two rematches. It's ****ing ridiculous, he has to be the most overrated fighter that has ever existed.

Im with you as far as agreeing that Duran was greater but id say there punching power is similar, and I think a prime Duran could keep up with Manny in the speed department, not saying he was faster or as fast but the disparity isnt that much. Bare in mind im talking about the LW version and the Duran that beat SRL. Duran seemed to slow down a little after that fight. His Chin was a waaaaaaaaaaaaay better than Mannys and so was his defense.
