If Wlad ads another notch to his belt against Chambers, will it help his legacy?

I agree. Chambers is one of his best wins in the past few years. Chambers definitely helps his legacy.

I wonder if sharing the same trainer will allow Boystov to fight VK. They both use Sdunek, right? I would've liked to have seen either one more but I know everyone will jump in to point out how little pro experience Solis has. These guys just need to fight more. Vitali has fought more recently than most of these young up and comers and he's the GD champ. Gah. Frustrating.

Vlad was cautious but he controlled the whole fight. Vlad fights fearful at times but he knows his strengths and weakness and better to be safe then sorry, I give Chambers credit he did try and land vs Vlad but could not get past the jab, try as he might. After Chambers ripped his glove he came back with a bit of pep but it did not last long. Manny yelled at Vlad to start throwing punches and go for the KO...Vlad was still trying and even went to the body then he landed the hook....Chambers was out on his feet with 5 seconds left in the fight.

Chambers could not get off but he was evasive and held his hands up well, playing possum and waiting to lunge...If Manny did not get Vlad angry it may have gone 12 but Vlad whipped the hook....He beat a very good American fighter tonight and Chambers may have beaten many of the top 10 and other Champs but Vlad is tight as a drum and does some wicked things with the jab, right hand and when he snaps that rare hook its a *****

Lets face it Joe Louis, Charles, Walcott,Louis, nor Ali was in there today but Vlad still has a Haye, Povetkin fight in the future and no one really makes this guy open up all his tools. Vlad can be as tight as a clam...I think as age sets in and Vlad has less command of the ring we may see some good fights and see some hidden weapons or his chin may get more available

Got to give him props...and even when his fights are one-sided we are thinking (possibly over-thinking) that one punch can change things

Credit to Manny he got us the last rd bolt

I'd consider it a very good win. Chambers isn't nearly as bad a fighter as Wlad made him look tonight, but he was just dominated without Wlad ever really trying 100%. I had it a shut out going into the final round. When WK finally did listen to Steward and opened up, Chambers was unconscious for a couple minutes. Eddie's a guy who hadn't even been knocked down in his career prior to that, let alone out.

How was Kevin Johnson rated? Whom did he beat other than 44 year old bruce seldon?

Arreola was a young rising contender, but he had beaten no one other than a older jameel mccline.

I really hope povetkin or haye fight Vitali.

    Good post. :good

I already think he has surpassed Bowe but not Patterson or Schmeling which I have borderline Top10. If Wlad goes on like that he will end in the Top15 I think.

The sudden and brutal kayo in the last seconds of the fight saved Wlad from some negative press no doubt about it. He propably could have gotten Chambers out of there much earlier but still won every round handily. Props to Steward for infuriating Wlad before the last round and lighting a fire that brought out the inner beast in the man. The highlight reel sensational one-punch knockout salvages a dull evening of boxing.

Good post, and I agree with you 100% on Wladimir... But, I think you're being a little harsh on Vitali.. For whatever its worth, he did beat two of Wlad's conquerors in Sanders and Purity, plus was never truly dominated in a fight himself.. Upon returning from a 4 year leave from the sport, his first fight back was a one sided domination of a young title holder who had never been stopped. His next 3 opponets had records of 44-1, 27-0, 22-0, or something to that effect, and they were also dominant performances.... Vitali is 38 years old now, and still beating rated contenders, for whatever you think they're worth.... His next fight is against a C rated opponent, but as Mendoza pointed out, its basically a stay busy bout, and few people want a piece of Vitali anyway....Once again, I agree that his brother deserves to be recognized as the better of the two, but the man's career does call for some respect..

Emanuel Steward just wants to get back on HBO in America so he doesnt have to go to Europe. These type of fights are acceptable over there, but not here in heavyweight boxing. Steward wants Klitschko to take more chances and be more exciting, especially when he has such a small threat in front of him and I agree with him.

If you think that was an arm punch, you know absolutely **** about boxing.

    Sorry to be so harsh.

Well it certainly wasnt a snapping lefthook, but it did land right on the button. Wlad is just so big his punches dont have to land perfect to do damage, but weve definitely seen Wlad throw a crisper lefthook than that George Foreman special.

That was a gorgeous hook started with the lead leg, note in the replay how it bends as he transfers the weight, letting his punch whip with great momentum. Just as it is correctly taught. A hell of a punch.

    Indeed,

Wlad's skills are quite a bit better than what he often shows us. If he fought that way in every round of every fight, we might be looking at a different fighter who is a level above.

I thought Manny was going to quit there in the late rounds.

Maybe this puts some fire in the belly of Wlad. The man has every tool a heavyweight could imagine possessing but those lapses earlier in his career have profoundly effected him. Johnson, Dempsey, Louis... they got over significant defeats to become great champs. Wlad, though a great champ, seems to still have issues. Fortunately for him 85% of his potential is still enough to be dominant.
