Duran is my all time favorite but Bernie might actually be right on this one. Benitez had a style that would always bother Duran, id rate Duran much higher in terms of greatness but like they say styles make fights.

Thats why I love Duran over Manny style wise Duran would eat Manny up, he would love the type of fight that Manny would bring and I have no question what so ever that Duran would eat him for breakfast.

Duran could not beat Benitez. Benitez outclassed him. Wilfred fought almost best at 154. He beat Duran and Santos and won the title over Maurice Hope by one punch knockout. He did great until he fought Thomas Hearns and lost a tough 15 round decision which ended his superwelterweight reign, but he had Tommy missing big punches, so Wilfred was for real. And in the fight with Duran the same year as he fought Tommy, Wilfred outclassed Duran easily. That is not an overexageration. Benitez was cruising through many of those rounds with Duran almost like he was having fun. Duran's style didn't pose a problem for Wilfred.

Its funny how some Duran fans act as if Duran's losses would have been different if it were in a "pound for pound" sense and not head to head where he usually lost to the elites. In terms of styles and "pound for pound", I think Duran of 135 might beat a 135 pound version of Marvin Hagler.

I never said there was No question. Why are you lying:huh When i rated Toney,Winky Calzaghe ,Tszyu in order i said Toney was the best had Winky and Calzaghe tied and Tszyu very closely behind, Thats what i said in fact i would have a problem mixing those last 3 up, i stated those 3 are borderline top 100 ATGs and Toney was top 60. Dont misquote me again:twisted:

Those two fights could have gone either way, I gave the first to Pacquiao and the second to Marquez if I remember correctly, I think it was the first round that decided the winner to me in the rematch and that first round could have swung either way.

I had Marquez by 2 points in the rematch. And Marquez by 1 in the first fight although the Draw was fair.

Duran may have been lazy as hell preparing for Laing but not for Benitez. Eleta had him train on like a deserted island or some **** where prisoners were. Duran was in very good shape for Benitez. Apparently Benitez, another guy who often didn't train like he should've, was in top shape too.

Yes I realize that duran lost to first list of greats i mentioned. My whole point (which you seemed to have missed or maybe ignored) is that people are actually comparing pac's opponents to these eighties greats (which is ludacris). In the end my oppinion is not only did duran beat more greats than pac (such as the second list of greats i mentioned), but the greats duran beat are greater than the greats pac beat. As i said before it's all a matter of oppinion.

Benitez was a great fighter in his own right and it was very noticeable even before the fight began Benitez looked in top shape and Duran looked alittle out of shape. He also stopped using the swarming method that worked great against slick boxers like Leonard and opted instead to make it a boxing match in the center of the ring vs. a master boxer like Benitez was a bad idea. Alot of clinching in that fight.

IDK, but I'm firm in my belief the quick swarmer that cut off the ring and beat Leonard also would of beaten Benitez, but I think any version of Duran still falls to Hearns and Hagler. Benitez, like Duran, was also alittle inconsistent and also lost to fighters he shouldn't of have lost to like Davey Moore. He looked what fighters call "cold" and looked like he didn't build up a sweat before that fight. In another words, I think Benitez might of underestimated Moore and that's why he got tko'd thinking it was going to be an easy payday.

whatever the excuse, Duran would have had a hard time beating Benitez. Benitez was fast and had great defense, not the kind of guy Duran does well against. Benitez did great when he won the 154 pound title.

The main thing Manny and Duran have in common is a willingness to take on fights that make people say, "Are you nuts?" and exceed expectations. They are fighters willing to step into a ring with a champion as a 3-1 or more underdog and give some hell. If Duran were currently active he'd have a fan boy army of epic size.

I don't think Manny would have fared well against Duran and given both fighters have granite chins I'd expect a 12 round war with a Duran UD win by 3-4 rounds. Duran vs Mayweather would have resulted in a brutal KO. Barrera was still prime for his first loss to Manny. He was 29 and Manny was at least a 3-1 underdog in a fight regarded by everyone as just a stay busy fight until the bell rang for the first round and total domination by Manny ensued. After the fight Barrera won his next 5 or 6 fights including jumping up to the 130 division and beating two different champions for the WBC and IBF belts. He didn't lose again after his loss to Manny for 3 1/2 years when he had a competitive but UD loss to Marquez. Manny's 2nd win over Barrera came 4 years after the first and while it was in similar dominating fashion at this point I don't think anyone would argue Barrera was still prime.
