Who has beaten more great fighters? Manny Pacquiao or Roberto Duran?

No chance was Leonard knocking him out. How many times did he stun Duran in that fight? Bar Hearns, which bigger guys (than Leonard) stopped Duran post-prime?

Duran was tough as nails. The Leonard fight is an odd blip on an overwise super impressive resume. I assume Ali's obvious losses to Norton don't harm him at all? I'd say losing to Leon Spinks is even worse than quitting against Leonard to be perfectly honest.

Just to play devils advocate, you're obviously using bias in the way you're analysing rather than any actual facts or stats.

De La Hoya-Good but not an ATG IMO. He's probably around the 80-100 mark on my top 100 P4P. Marcel is in the 90-100 bracket, but Duran gets extra kudos for being pre-prime and beating Marcel when the Panamanian was closer to his prime (terrible stoppage though)

Marquez-Debatable both times (I had Pac in the first but Marquez in the rematch) marquez is no better than De Jesus, whom Duran avenged a ten round points loss x2 by stoppage in the championship rounds.

Cotto-Cotto is nowhere near a top 100. Not a great fighter IMO.

Hatton-Any better than Buchanan? No, obviously not.

Clottey-In terms of domianting a big strong Welter, Durans best performance was against Palomino, in my opinion a better fighter than Cuevas (who Duran later beat, but past both of their best weights) and Duran absolutely dominated him. Not like Clottey either-He got in close and even managed to drop Paolomino, who was as sturdy as they come.

those names are not great. dejesus is hof but not a great fighter. Marcel good fighter, but a win over alexis will not make you great but a win over Alexis would have made Duran greater. But he never fought alexis. I think Alexis right hand would have been tough for Duran like Hearns was for Duran.

oh I agree duran was tough and had a good chin because benitez and leonard hit him clean as hearns did but hearns was the only one to stop him. he was tough. but ray would hve kept hitting him and he would have stopped him and that is why duran quit. Ali losing to spinks at that age is worse than duran quitting when he is close to prime? yeah that makes sense.

 

I am a MASSIVE ARguello fan (more so than Duran) but at lightweight Duran holds all the advanatages apart from one-punch power. A terrible matchup for Arguello, basically unwinnable IMO, and as I say you will be hard pressed to find a bigger Arguello nuthugger on these forums than me.

Cuevas was washed up when Duran fought him. Hearns took everything out of Cuevas.. that is the closest thing to a second great duran fought next to leonard as you can come up with.

No, I used PALOMINO as an example. Can you read? I wrote (past his best weight) and no Cuevas is not as close to great as I can find. I already stated that I consider Palomino the better Welter, and Buchanan was also a far superior scalp.
