Never saw this one. Thanks Rockysplitnose!

Valdes wasn't always courageous. I have his full fight with Satterfield, and he takes the easy way out and goes for the distance instead of trying to win. Here Valdes showed heart. I tend to think Valdes was a bit lazy with his jab, and had a so-so type of defense. Marciano would have been all over Valdes. Marciano did not have the skills or accuracy of Moore though. It would have been a good fight, but I see Rocky winning late via TKO.

Moore looked great here. Anyone have Valdes win over Chalres?

There is no doubt that Moore ws an exceptional fighter ... at this point speed was a much bigger handicap than power as he was pot shotting the much slower Valdez at will ... I cannot imagine Nino taking too many of those shots from Rocky and lasting too long ... now that I see Valdez footage the biggest loss we have from not having a Marciano/Valdez match up is a great Marciano highlight reel KO ..

    HeGrant,

I thought you said Marciano chose to "Older shopworn easier opponent" Ezzard Charles over the "Younger, bigger, powerful, and more dangerous" Valdes?

Moore looked really good in this fight, proving that a really good small man can beat a good big man. Moore was just special. He had the speed, power, offensive and defensive skill, and ring generalship to beat a 30-pound bigger (180 vs. 209.5) man like Valdes.
