So if the public said that you weren't a real champion because you didn't beat the man that beat the man, how would you react? Like any real champion, you would fight the true champ, would you not? Floyd tried to fight him before but as he said in the interview Baldo priced himself out of the fight. They got things worked out, Floyd took on the true champion, beat him, and all you can say is PPV numbers?:patsch

You're implying the general boxing public gave a **** about floyd fighting baldomir.
THEY wanted him to fight margarito.
Everyone saw baldomir as a lucky boxer who was a fluke.

Brian Kenny is hated by floyd fans 1 day, then they use his "why not fight baldomir" **** the next day.

    ******ed garbage.

Okay. If you're saying that the general public did not care about Baldomir, so be it. I still respect Floyd for tying up loose ends as it pertains to Zab Judah and to the championship. He didn't have to do that, but he did.

This is why the General Boxing Forum sucks here. Stupid posts like this. Baldomar had no chance, and I don't know anybody who picked him to win.

I give Floyd major credit for that fight because he did what a champion was supposed to do and performed a shutout against a guy who should've excelled against and he did.

    Great for him.

But to try and blow it up more than it is as if he defied great ass odds is ****in' bull****. He beat a glorified come-forward tomato can as "Scar" would put it that was SUPPOSED TO WEAR HIM DOWN WITH SIZE but didnt. But quite frankly I think Margarito would've been the tougher challenge at the time...but he's a POS now and having thought about it. This was a pretty good win. Nothing more nothing less.

People forget that Baldomir beat Clottey. "Buh buh Clottey was winnng" Yeah by 1 point and BAldomir was coming on strong in the championship rounds which forced Clottey too start using his head as a third punch

As for Baldomir himself, MOST boxing fans knew that Floyd would whip him. However, alot of casual fans thought Baldomir because of his size would beat Mayweather. AS to why the bout was titled "pretty risky" and did about 350,000 buys. In the casual mans eye, propogated by dopes like Brian Kenny running around claiming Floyd was ducking Baldomir and Ricky Hatton, they thought he had more then a decent shot.

The papy per view buys for that bout at the time were outstanding. What the **** are you talking about. Floyd vs Baldomir did the same as Pac vs the 3 mexican legends. 350,000 which looks pitiful to the numbers Floyd does today was pretty damn good then.

Floyd did more with the guys who lost to baldomir.

    Zab Judah - 374,000
    Arturo Gatti - 365,000
    Carlos Baldomir - 325,000

And it did more then his fight with fan favorite Gatti. Doesnt change the fact that at the time when boxing had no money generating stars but DLH, it did good numbers.
