Unlikely British fighters to hold a "world title" when i first started gettng into boxing and becoming aquainted with the sport i was willing to learn but even after some time being a supporter of boxing I would discover another Brit that had been world champ that i eithe A) didnt realsie was world champion B) Was a world champion that i was completely unaware of. Anybody name some ? Dennis Andries, Gavin Rees, Steve Robinson
Gavin Rees, as said above, is the most obvious choice but since the profussion of "World Titles" even James Hare has been one!
Barry Jones from Cardiff. Lost to Acelino Freitas in his last fight. Failed a brain scan and had to retire if I remember rightly.
Hmm, I don't know. He was pretty hyped especially with his knockout record and the WBO was lightly regarded back then (When Hide fought Bowe, the American channel showing the fight didn't even mention the belt), so its not surprising he got the title shot and won the belt (especially when you consider the level of opposition he fought - Bentt, who's claim to fame was scoring one of the upsets of the decade over Morrison, and a old Tony Tucker). Just my opinion of course :good
