Wlad V George??????

This 'wild swinging' nonsense gets overstated, Foremans power punches could be pretty straight and fast

 

True, I think George's skills are often over looked. His actually had a strait jab went he wanted to use it, could hit guys by applying a two fisted attack, understood the value of working the body and could tie a man up pretty effectively.... His defense was far better in his comeback, but was very unpolished in his first career...

 

George always lunged in with wide open shots in his first career, and thats exactly what I would be looking to counter, but I just dont see Wlad capable of doing it. Hes not a great counterpuncher.

 

Hard fight to pick this one. Foreman has the power to put Wlad away, but the reverse is also true. Ali landed his straight shots with ridiculous ease; if Wlad does the same with his 1-2, then Foreman is in deep trouble. But despite his limited technical skills, George did have a good instinct for finding the right range - timing, if you will. That, combined with his ability to impose his strength and power, makes him dangerous at all times.

Wlad's biggest weakness here is obviously his durability.
But his biggest strength, contrary to what many will think, is his footwork. He is very agile for a big heavyweight and if he can control the range and stop Foreman from imposing himself, then the fight is his. Could go both ways...

 

I agree his footwork is very good "now" at distance, but closing the gap on him still spells doom, and we havent seen Wlad in with a prime "Foreman" caliber fighter to see how he would handle a savvy guy who was very good at cutting off the ring and trapping his opponents.

 

Yes his defense was dreadful and his biggest weakness, but in a way it was like he was daring anyone to hit him so he could smash them. His hooks/uppercuts were pretty compact.

David Haye punches far wider, cant throw a left hook to save his life and doesnt have much better defense but some think him a better skilled boxer

Again, I think George would KO Wlad, but comparing him with Morrison is ridiculous. If Wlad could manage to keep George away from him, he would be landing much more frequently with shots than Morrison could ever do. Also, Wlad's one punch power isn't that far off Morrisons.

 

George would knock him out. Stylistically, this just is not a good match for wlad. sure he has reach advantages and size advantages, but george has power, and strength. Wlad's chin is not a good match up for the hardest hitter of all time.

 

He learned how to relax as he got older in the ring(with Archie coaching), funny but a lot of the older fighters surprised me with the way they improved there punch resistance Patterson was another one. Other than the Lyle fight Foreman was stopped by severe stamina loss but when he got older, he rolled much better with the punches and paced him self well.

Are we talking about a young version of Foreman fighting Vlad or an older version?

 

Young Foreman. Old Foreman would get stopped for sure. Wlad just punches way to hard for old FOreman to take it.

 

Wlad takes a lot of unwarranted ribbing on here, much of it ill-informed.


However, I don't think prime George needs more than four to end this one.
