    Anybody read this thing? http://www.eastsideboxing.com/news.php?p=23209&more=1

(Yes, it requires this many patsch emoticons to convey the forehead-smackingness I feel)

...Honestly. Nothing against Pacquiao, but a welterweight battle between Pacquiao and Hearns? And not even a ******* general forum thread, but an actual article on the main page. As much chance of a Manny win as a Hearns win if they starved Hearns down to Super Featherweight for a bout between the two- and actually, still Manny has about no chance with Hearns as a starved, dehydrated, nearly dead wreck.

"by James Slater - Talk about one helluva Dream Fight: Manny Pacquiao Vs. Thomas Hearns - "The Hitman" against "Pac-Man!""

 Yeah, okay. A helluva dream fight if you hate Pacquiao, I suppose. This guy has Pacquiao trading in a "fierce battle" with Tommy Hearns going into the second half of the fight. :nut

This is a real quote from the article, without doctoring: "

"The Hitman," no slouch at the inside fighting himself, gets his own body punches to work and his body assault more than rivals Pacquiao's. Hearns hasn't yet learnt how to properly tie up an opponent, though, so Manny is certainly getting in and doing some damage. But enough to get the stoppage?"

Pacquiao's a great, great fighter, fighting past his natural weight class. But wins over Miguel Cotto and Joshua Clottey (Both fine fighters, of course) are not enough to be considering him in a "fierce battle" fantasy match-up with Ray Leonard, Ray Robinson, Tommy Hearns, Roberto Duran or any of the other upper-crust welters of all time (who can hit, at least). Let's stop the insanity, guys.

(Hearns is on the left, for typical gen. forum regulars)

I'll have to pick Hearns in this one, he would be huge for Pacquiao with serious reach, speed and power. His chin might not be the best but can Pacquiao nail him without taking those extremely fast hooks on his way in?, Cotto landed those hooks and we all know soutpaws can be open for these hooks. Hearns would beat Pacquiao and it won't be pretty. Hearns can carry speed and power all the way to the end like Pac can and Hearns will be in advantage in this one. Let's be real, Hearns made Hagler look small and that was Hearns moving UP to the middleweight division. Hearns also looks big enough as a light heavyweight and cruiserweight, Pacquiao doesn't look like he even belongs at welter and he's whopping those guys. Not a good fight based on size and style, Hearns will be too fast, big and strong for the WAY smaller Pacman who I'm sure would have taken the fight anyway since he fears no one. To be honest, I won't be surprised if Hearns loses this one and I'm sure many know Hearns is my #1 fighter of all time, Pacquiao is too shocking to be honest, his entire career is based on shocking and shutting people up.

Hearns, the man who KO'd Duran in only 2 rds. Hearns beats pac by murder. I'm a Hearns fan and I don't like pac at all, but I wouldn't even pay to see this ****.

As opposed to classic forum regulars, who all think Gene Tunney would wipe out Mike Tyson in two rounds? :nut

Yes, Hearns will punch pac's head off his shoulders, but i will not put money on it. I remember a couple years back when I was having a convo with some guy about cotto fighting pac (back when he was at 135), i said pac will crumple in less than 5. We all know what happened there. IM not comparing Cotto with Hearns but the filipino defies logic.

This thread would be much better if there was a public poll.

    Holy crap.

Manny isn't going to do well in this one. He does have a punchers chance, but god - Hearns all the way here.

Agree entriely. All this fantasy match ups is getting beyond the joke. Next they'l have Pac beating Robinson as well. All I can say is people must forget how devasting Hearns was at 147-154. Not everyone could outbox Leonard in his prime but Tommy gave Ray all the problems in the world. thats why he only gave him a rematch when he thought Tommy was shot & ding dong................got dropped twice on route to a very sus drawn decision.

I'm a Classic forum regular and I can assure you I never heard an opinion from a poster taken seriously there that even approached that. Come hang with us over there a bit and clear your opinion up. :hi:

Hearns in less then 3. The first big right hand that Hearns lands would put Manny out.
