Who has beaten more great fighters? Manny Pacquiao or Roberto Duran?

Ah yes the infallible evidence that is a ESB poll...you didnt happen to notice that other one where most voted for Duran as the greater fighter?

 

JMM is also ATG status, Cotto, Clottey and Hatton are VERY high quality wins especially for someone moving up. Also Manny fought MAB 2x, EM3x and JMM twice. That's one ****ing tough road to travel.

 

EM, MAB and JMM aren't that far behind SRL in ATG status, and ODLH isn't either in his prime. There aren't any fighters of SRL's caliber out there right now, except for Manny and PBF if you feel like giving it to him, and Manny is trying to get THAT fight.

Giving Duran more props for his ONE great victory than Manny's handful of them is Duran nuthugging at it's worst. SRL is a great, great fighter but he's not God almighty. He got wobbled nearly off his feet in one of his first ten fights, I don't remember against whom. He was a human being, and he had a bad night. He made up for it by totally humiliating and outclassing Duran twice after that, and making him put his tail between his legs and run out of the ring once.

 

That's where you lose your credibility. Leonard is an arguable top 10-20 fighter. Marquez, to many knowledgeable posters, isn't even a top 100. BIG difference there. It's like saying Winky Wright isn't that far behind Kid Gavilan.

 

That's where YOU'RE wrong. Most people would probably have all three of the Mexicans above Benitez, and look at what a close fight he gave SRL. When you're talking about ATG status, it's little differences you're talking about. Is Ali greater than Tyson? Most people would say so, including me. Would Ali just handle Tyson like he's nothing? Oh hell no.

SRL is a super-elite ATG, as is Pacquiao, a status few fighters hold and Duran SHOULDN'T hold because of ONE fight. EM, MAB and JMM are definite ATG status, as opposed to just HOF status, a full step above Winky Wright types.

that poll coupled with this one proved a something since without analyzing resume and just rating who is greater- people voted for duran being greater yet when you ask who beat greater fighters the pollers say manny. That other poll legitimizes this one that people think duran is greater without beating greats yet they think Manny beat greater guys. This sort of shows the overrating of Duran!!!! that poll helps prove it!!!

 

duran won the other one when it was a simple question of who is greater since there was not evidence which had to be given-but when the question is who fought greater guys than Manny wins. By the way the guy on your avatar Fernando Vargas is one of the most overrated fighters also-you like overrated fighters.

 

Duran did not beat the great leonard he beat a still inexperienced guy with only 2 championship fights!!!

 

I already put up a good post that showed Duran beat greater fighters, you just chose to ignore it or dismiss it. If you knew boxing you would know that the post was spot on:yep Resume and HTH Duran takes this. Im not a Manny basher in fact i rate him higher than many others do on my ATG pfp list, he just hasnt quite caught up to Duran.If he beats the winner of May and Mosley impressively ,then Resume speaking he makes it very close and i can see an argument. HTH no matter what Manny does his style doesnt match up with a Montreal version of Duran or a matchup against the Lightweight Duran.
As for Vargas i dont feel he is overrated, I dont feel he is an ATG but he is definitley worthy of praise. There are many factors that fall into why i like certain fighters. Im not a bandwagon fan like others just cause i have a fighter in my AVI doesnt mean i think he is the greatest. You strike me as a bandwagon fan:yep I bet you change your sportsteam favorites on a yearly or bi yearly basis.

 

An inexperienced and green fighter doesnt knockout a prime Benitez. Not to mention whupping all the top contenders convincingly before his title reign.
