If Oscar De La Hoya vs Shane Mosley, both in their primes, couldn't get over a million buys I doubt Mayweather vs Mosley in 2010 will get one and a half. I'm predicting high six figures, maybe just about hitting a million.

    +1

it seems that posters fail to appreciate the fact that pac, a non-american, was able to successfully gain mainstream acceptance in the U.S. setting record ppv numbers at the lower weighta before successfully gaining solid ground at the welters..

+1. heck, just imagine pac-clottey, both non american natives even made 700k. that is a testament to pacs drawing power.

but mosley-mayweather? 7 years ago perhaps. but now, when mosley is almost 40 years old. i doubt it.

Again, all this debate who is a bigger draw and why the numbers are so, they fail to understand that Latino BOXERS are the one helping both Manny and PBF.

Why do you guys think Arum is considering Valero, JMM and Margarito for Pac's next fight? Only 2 of them are Top Rank boxers.

Why do you think that JMM and Oscar are 2 of PBF's biggest PPV events? While Cotto for Pac?

Second, there are also OTHER factors such as the state of both opponents careers, 24/7 (if you do not think 24/7 helps, then you obviously do not understand TV. The whole show is designed around the PPV - story, timing, location, etc), personality, etc.

This is why RJJ, Hopkins, Pavlik, The Klits, SSM, Calzaghe, etc - all where inferior PPV draws.

  9. I agree. Kelly Pavlik should fight Edwin Valero.

With the exception of De La Hoya, who are the Latino boxers who have drawn over a million PPV buys on their own or against other Latinos in the past few years?

Since when have Valero, JMM or Margarito been huge draws? ****, before Tony beat Cotto, he couldn't even headline on non-PPV cards on HBO and Showtime. That garbage PPV Arum put on where he fought Gomez did like 35,000 buys.

Clottey is unknown. You can't compare that to Marquez or Mosley.

Which part of the word "helping" confuses you?

And look at Nallege's post below this....
