See i could see Duran as a top 20 ATG IF i were to make a list today, But on the other hand a few bad nights and his weight issues would play a part in my thought process in ranking him any higher ,
Ps i see a prime Duran cutting Colin up ala The Cobra . Durran late stoppage imo .

Cheers mate, much appreciated. I learned a hell of a lot myself. The more you sift through some of the old timers records, the more you appreciate them compared to today's prima donnas.

Its such a shame that no footage of Greb exists. His resume is top notch, he beat so many great fighters and often he was the smaller man in the ring.

Im really starting to think that Greb deserves the no1 spot...its only really the nonexistent footage of him that holds him back in a lot of people's eyes.

I dont think boxing has seen a better resume.

I tend to agree. Nobody has or ever will have the kind of resume Greb has. I have him 2nd on my list and the only reason he isnt number one is the fact that I have never seen him fight.

You can argue him higher, that's for sure. Robinson's resume is something else, that's for sure, as is Armstrong's. Perhaps getting the short end of the Tunney series holds him back? I'm not sure, just playing devil's advocate.

In relation to that pic I was on about earlier, I just checked Ebay and the price of signed Moore stuff has gone through the roof. Obviously things like that are only worth what people are prepared to pay for them, but the asking price sure goes up when the person is alive. I picked mine up for $30 from memory, an absolute bargain.

It's a tregedy the Darcy died so bloody young Ippy... He was matched with a few of Greb early opponents and handled them without problems. Chip had KO'd Greb and Darcy played with the back handing Chip before icing him out.. A few years to mature and anything would have been possible for Les. I'd have no hesitation in saying Darcy would have whipped Carpentier in the 'hoped for' match up, as well as belting Greb in 1917-1920. Tunney would have fallen also by 1925.

Darcy was in a fine position to reshape a lot of the Top 100 placings had he lived... With a prolonged career Australia had a top 5 LEGEND in it's court. IMO

Totally agree mate. Sands is another one who died to young to fully realise his potential.

Thanks very much for the kind words boys, I really do appreciate it. Honestly it absolutely busted my head in, doing this list. Plenty of second and third and tenth guessing of myself. It took ages sitting there comparing notes etc. Knowing that people enjoyed it, whether they agreed or not, makes it worthwhile. Thanks for taking the time to comment.
