I completely disagree. Both Vitali and David Haye went the distance in their last fight. It was David Haye's only title fight, and he built his knockouts up in the Cruiserweight Division. We have no idea how that will stand against the top heavyweights. He has only fought one... and went the distance in a very uneventful effort. Clearly all of them know how to finish opponents. I don't see how Wlad can be negatively judged against the other two Champs as far as finishing fights when Wlad is the only one of the 3 (even though Haye isn't really a true Champ) that finished his last opponent. Especially considering the fact that Wlad has consistently fought at a higher level of competition than either Vitali or Haye. Either way... I think that they all 3 clearly don't suffer in the "know how to finish a fight" department. As a matter of fact... since you pointed it out... it seems that today's heavyweight top dogs know how to finish fights better than the "greats" from the past. I guess today's heavyweight division is much better than people try to make it out to be. This shoestring "theory" of yours is nonsense anyways. We all know that people have been spewing this same nonsense about Wlad since Ibragimov, Chagaev, and Rahman/Maskaev/Peter, ect... were the other Champs. Wlad has a higher knockout percentage than all of those guys. This is nothing more than hate. Wlad is a great fighter, and with being a great fighter comes A LOT of angry, jealous people. That's the way the world works... especially the boxing world where so many people are biased... and only seem to want to support people of their own color, ethnic backround, or country. Luckily for me... I am not held down by none of that bull**** and like fighters of all colors from all ethnic backrounds, and different countries throughout the world.
In reality it is just bull**** stat that does not really prove anything. Yeah they all are big punchers but percentage doesnt make Wlad some awesome finisher like you claim. He is cautious and defensive minded boxer with huge punching power. Counting his KO% isnt going to change that. Nope. First of all different times fight wasnt stopped as easily as now days. 2. Fighters percentage should be counted after career is over or just take account the prime years. Some fighters can ruin their KO percentages by continuing their career too long. 3. It could also be used as a proof that heavyweight division is worse than you think, because challengers are KO more easily than in the past. 4. its a meaningless stat. I know it is nonsense. Just like your attempt to prove that Wlad is better finisher than Mike Tyson. Real reason why he gets **** is that he fights cautiously 11 rounds, before increasing hes KO percentage.
Wlad's last fight wasn't even shown in the states. I respect the fact that Wlad is winning, but he is not perceived as the baddest man on the planet because he doesn't do rematches or fight away from home. To me Wlad isn't boring, but his style is straight ugly...
What? I am not sure if that made sense. Either way... it was Sanders who didn't want the rematch. Do you bother knowing the truth before you post, or does that even matter? Wlad was told by the WBO that he had to wait until Sanders defended against Brewster before he could get a shot at Sanders again. Wlad fought Moli and Nicholson based only on their WBO ranking and the fact that it would keep him in line for a mandatory shot at the WBO title. Sanders sat on the title for a year and then dropped it without even defending it once. Sanders openly stated in a video interview on "m a x boxing" that he turned Wladimir down repeatedly for a rematch. He sat there ON CAMERA and explained that Wlad wanted a rematch with him really bad, but that the only way he would give Wlad a rematch is if he (Sanders) fought and beat Vitali Klitschko for the WBC title. Sanders obviously lost to Vitali and then fell off the map. How the hell can you blame Wlad for Sanders openly admitting to denying him a rematch? Wlad even went to the WBO right after the fight pleading for an immediate rematch, and they denied him because immediate rematches were not in their rules and Wlad didn't have it in the contract. Which, if you remember the fight was tossed together on short notice after 11-or 12 other boxers refused to fight Wlad. Of course Wlad and his team were overconfident and didn't think an immediate rematch would be needed. Lesson learned on that end... but that doesn't change the fact that Wlad can't force Sanders to get back into the ring with him if Corrie refuses to do so.
What the ****? First of all... Yes, Wlad rematched Brewster and stopped him. This even after Brewster stated in interviews that he wouldn't give Wlad a rematch unless Wlad became mandatory challenger. Using the excuse that he felt Wlad and his team took away from his win over Wlad by claiming foul play. As soon as Wlad won the WBO and got the chance... he fought Brewster in a rematch. What does that tell you? Wlad wanted the rematch all along and only when Wlad had the title again was Brewster willing to fight him again. Wlad also had a scheduled rematch against Puritty in which Ross pulled out of the fight claiming an injury. Wlad also chased Corrie Sanders for a rematch, in which Corrie Sanders openly admitted that he denied Wlad the rematch. So... of Wlad's 3 losses... he rematched he most recent loss and dominated. He was repeatedly rejected a rematch by Sanders, and Puritty pulled out of a rematch claiming injury. Doesn't fight away from home? Do you even watch boxing? Of Wlad's last 20 fights... 8 of them have been in the United States. 4 fights ago... it was dead even at 8 and 8 in the USA and out of the USA in his previous 16. The fact that he can draw so much more money and such a bigger crowd in Germany is the reason that he has fought his last 4 fights there. It is financially more lucrative for him and his opponents. I can think of at least 5 different countries that Wlad has fought in.
Judging by the facts... Wladimir Klitschko is obviously more successful at finishing his fights than Mike Tyson. In reality, it does prove something. Wlad's KO percentage clearly proves that he doesn't fail to finish his opponents. Which is what people have been saying on here. Even though now all of you are backtracking and trying to make it seem like something else. Once again, with your last statement. The FACTS disagree with you. Wlad's average throughout his entire career is 4.6 rounds per fight.
Well, Bonecrusher Smith, Tony Tucker made it 12 with Tyson and Mitch Green made it 10 in a 10 round fight. Tyson lost to Buster Douglas by KO. Rudi Lubbers (who?) made it 12 (the distance) with Ali in 1973. Henry Cooper almost beat Ali by KO and so on.... Great fighters have not always been able to KO all the lesser fighters they fought. It´s not inconceivable that a prime Chagaev for example would have gone the distance with a prime Ali and so on. I would not bet on Chambers or Ibragimov going 6 or more with a prime Tyson/Foreman for example, but it´s certainly not impossible. If you fight, say 30 fighters who are way inferior, chances are you´ll lose to one or two of them.
Two thoughts on this 1) It´s certainly not right to say Wlad can´t finish his fights, because most of them end up in a KO of his opponent. But I think people feel he should finish them much earlier because he often looks completely dominant from the start, but timid to step it up. 2) Wlad´s stats really do show he´s a very good fighter, but it´s not necessarily fair to compare them directly to fighters of the past. The eras were different, some had better competition than others. Not to mention that in some of them there was only one world title, so title fights were on average higher level fights than now (like sorry ass "world" title fights like Byrd vs Williamson, Meehan vs Brewster, Ruiz vs Oquendo etc.)
Let's be honest here. Why would Sanders turn down a man he ko'd in two rounds first off??? Second, Sanders entertained fights with Jones and others and didn't have to rematch a man he ko'd in 2. Sanders wanted to fight the true hw champion. He got his shot and lost. Stop lying to posters about Sanders refusing a rematch with Wlad. It insinuates that Sanders did not want Wlad again lol...
I'm playing devil's advocate. Brewster was getting off of eye surgery and took the fight when he probably shouldn't have... Don't even talk about Purrity because if Wlad couldn't get a rematch with Purrity, then he couldn't get one with Sanders lol... Wlad is a gold medalist, so how in the hell could he not get a rematch with either guy??? I don't believe a word that you say when you say Sanders didn't want the rematch lol... As far as Brewster, if there was no rematch clause, whatever the case Wlad lost and wasn't drugged... I commend Wlad for making it back to the top though.
