Former British heavyweight champion Neville Meade has died from cancer at the age of 61. He won the title in 1981, poleaxing Gordon Ferris is the first round. He boxed for the RAF and England and won a Commonwealth Games gold medal. Lost title to David Pearce in 1983 and retired. Thereafter, he worked as a doorman and also in helping kids with learning difficulties. Sadly, he later drifted into alcoholism. Any of you Welsh boys have any memories to share .....
RIP I remember him. Him and Dave Pearce, another welsh heavyweight, fought each other for the British title.
Great KO!! Neville showed Ferris that shot 4 times during the round before he threw it. Godspeed Neville, safe journey :deal
I know he was very young when he lost a dceision to Bruno I think, or maybe he won:think. Don't know why he didn't take the pro game more seriously...he beat Neilson and McCrory and then ended up killing himself
