Why don't Mexicans like De La Hoya?

Fishnet wearing men are often disliked.

 

Mexicans I know dont like him because they said he's a hollywood mexican.

 

What LukeO said and they saw him as a coward because they thought he was "too pretty" to get in slugfests.

So they don't like him because he showed boxing skill, and didn't take unnecessary punishment??

 

The man is a fraud. Great fighter but his pleasant demeanor is fake. He is a self centered arrogant jerk. This comes from people that are close to him.

Most Mexicans I know like ODLH. The myth that Mexicans don't like him comes from the OLD Chavez fans who hate him because he destroyed Oscar.

But most Mexicans love Oscar De La Hoya.

 

Cause he comes across as phony.

Also beating an old Chavez twice didnt endeared him to the mexican aficion.

 

No because he didn't have that "Mexican style" they like. I personally have no problems with DLH I'm just saying what I think they think so you can think what I think.

 

that is false statement he is not a typical aggresive mexican style of fighter an when he came on seen there was only the greatest ever from mexico julio cezar chavez so it took awhile for him to prove himself an be appreciated dont like him my self but first class boxer an non hw king of box office so apperently someone likes him

 

I give him a 10 in excitement. I think Mexicans like him, but Latinos are a wide mix of people and Mexico is Huge. Morales and Barrera come from different parts of Mexico where one group doesn't like the other. So I don't think they love him because he is a truer American than a Mexican, personality-wise

 

My co-worker grew up with him in the same neighborhood and said the exact same thing.

 

That's true I guess they were looking for the "next Chavez" and DLH wasn't it. He WAS a great fighter though.
