Seems like it, I think the fighter to beat him will do it by grinding him out slowly; something like a younger Couture. A guy like Rampage would be a solid favorite to beat him, and this might sound odd, but Ryan Bader would be able to outmuscle him to avoid the throws, and just wear him down physically, plus he has KO power.
Yeah, I feel Jones has a better future than Bader, but Bader is wrong for him. Throwing Hamill around is very good, but I doubt there is a human in the divison of 205 who can throw Bader around..
I don't want to jump the gun here, but the way Jones manhandled and dominated Vera was scary. Say what you want about Vera, but he is a very good fighter, I had him beating Couture. He also stuffed every one of Coutures takedowns, yet Jones took him down at will.
Yeah, the thing about Jones is that he doesn't OUTMUSCLE anyone, he uses his timing and technique to throw guys around. If he could do it to Hamill who is a very strong guy if not as good a wrestler as Bader as well as someone like Vera who has wrestling cred then I don't know that he couldn't do it to Bader. As much as anything I think is length really throws people off both on the feet, in the clinch and on the ground. It's not like Vera was using a crappy guard, Jones was just able to hit him from a place that Vera wasn't used to.
He had a good response when asked about it...he acknowledges it but doesn't let it in his head. :good He seems to have a real student mentality, and that will only serve him.
Fair point, but Hammil also got beat up on his feat, where he is below par; Bader can hold his own a little better.
Good news. And bein in Greg Jacksons camp and gettin his ass kicked in trainin by the top people there will only help him stay level headed & improve imo
That's not unreasonable. It's always best to let prospects prove there's substance behind the hype before succumbing to it. The Vera win goes a way toward doing that, certainly.
