I know it was a close fight that could have gone either way blah blah blah, but I want to see what ESB thought about it. Scorecards are welcomed.
I thought Martinez but I'd only complain about the very wide scorecard. Either guy getting it or a draw would've been fine with me. But, yeah, I think Martinez deserved it on cleaner, more effective punching. But Paul's work-rate is a nightmare for more than one reason. Even if you're on your feet at the end, the judges often go on volume. And out-voluming (not a real word) Williams is not likely to happen.
I felt Martinez did more damage. I gave him more rounds. Had him winning by two points, but I don't have my score-card anymore. I chose Martinez clearly, because I don't imagine I'll ever score it for Williams, but I don't have an issue with those that think Williams should have taken it by a narrow margin, one or two points. The only reason I would call the decision a robbery is because of that one score-card, which must have been a set-up, because no professional boxing judge could be that inept.
Sorry, didn't see it. I searched the forum to see if this has been done and didn't find anything, so I went ahead with the thread. Anyways, it's an interesting fight, whoever wants to give his opinion is welcomed.
OK, I was going to vote for Williams by razor-thin decision, so I'll vote the clear one to even it out.
Didn't search that long ago. The results are interesting, yet the question is how people scored the fight and I can't believe that 65 guys scored it even. No draw option here. :bart
I has PTP winning. It was obviously a tremendously close fight that could have gone either way though.
Martinez but close enough to go the other way. I remember Farmboxer coming here well before the fight saying the judges would be rigged and then look at that one wide scorecard for Williams.
:nono No. Sergio won the poll. If we determined fights by poll numbers, Cotto would be undefeated... http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=207257&highlight=rain+OR+shine
I don't think this happens and I don't want to believe it does. The first two scoring criteria are 1. Clean punching and 2. Effective aggressiveness. I don't care if a fighter throws 2.000 punches per fight, he has to be effective for the judges to give him the nod. If this doesn't happen then it's just wrong.
