According to Dan Rafael the Soto-Peterson fight on the undercard of Cotto-Foreman is off. Supposedly, Soto wants to fight some fight in Mexico instead. Rafael didn't say if the fight was permanantly off or if would be rescheduled later. But it seems off for the Cotto undercard.
well that really puts a damper on the card. Hopefully they come up with another solid co-feature. Cotto-Foreman is not an adequate stand alone WCB event.
Totally agree. Soto-Peterson was a very good fight while the Cotto-Foreman fight isn't too appealing. Foreman can stink a ring up.

HBO pays the promoters for cards they broadcast on their regular, subscription service. They probably offered $4 or 5 million or so for this card and Arum pays out the fighters based on their contracts.
well, in this case, Arum had to weigh the risk of going to pay per view versus the guaranteed HBO money. Arum has contracts with his fighters and has to pay them the agreed amount no matter what. If it went to pay per view and did lousy buys, then Arum would be on the hook and lose money himself. The fighters would be guaranteed whatever their contract stipulated. So, for the fighter, it's a no lose situation. It's the promoters that have the risk.
Soto knew the ass whoopin that awaited him, and decided he wanted a soft touch instead so that he can hold onto his paper title a little longer.
say it was Mayweather-Pacquiao 50/50 split. They'd probably have contracts guaranteeing them $15 million or so. But those guys would have stipulations in their contract that for every pay per view buy over 1 million or so, they'd get 30% or so of each buy. That's how these guys would make huge money.
