Clarity on how Mayweather will fight Manny

Point is well taken. But I still see Mayweather making the adjustments needed to win, simply because he's always successful doing it.

The statement made by Floyd Sr becomes a moot point because Jr has never struggled against a southpaw. Why take anything Sr says seriously anyway? The shoulder roll worked just fine against Sharmba Mitchell. If Floyd times his man correctly no punch, slow or fast, will land. You have to realize he is not a one trick pony. If he sees he's getting hit clean with straight lefts, he'll duck them. My guess is he'll step in with his straight right and immediately tie up Pac to negate flurries. I suspect this will be very hard for Pac to deal with. Floyd can even change to southpaw to land some effective jabs. He has this way of studying his opponent's eyes in order to make effective moves even before an attack is launched.

Pac is a monster though. I wouldn't be completely shocked if he dominates Floyd. Yes, it could happen. But the opposite can also happen as well. Keep in mind Floyd doesn't have to win all 12 rds. If Cotto outboxed Pac for 1 rd, I figure Floyd can do that for at least 7 rds. My prediction is Floyd wins by a narrow decision. I wouldn't bet the house on it though.

 

Also bear in mind the Manny you're seeing, is not going to be the one who turns up against Mayweather. You've got it wrong. The guy doesn't fight southpaws in a particular way, he ADAPTS to the fight style of his opponent. Manny makes way too many mistakes and is WAY too hittable. Leave the Clottey comparisons alone, these are nonsensical fantasies. The more I see Manny fight, the more I am convinced that he will get a serious ass whupping if they ever meet.

Those guys have way too much time on their hands, very creative though.

 

Man, Floyd can beat him but it will take a lot of circular movement and constant lead punching ( like in the Corrales fight)... Mayweather can not expect to press and walk this man down without Manny running numbers on him. Floyd very much presses forward with sneaking jabs, left hook leads and right hands but he would be constantly on the back move as Pac would attempt to touch him here and there at the same time. Then, Floyd cannot cover up, shoulder roll and move alongside the ropes cause this guy comes from sideways, rolls with his leading punches and bangs to the body. The only way is to keep a good distance ( moving in circles, not back and forth) and jabbing away.

 

I agree. PBF doesn't really use the shoulder roll against southpaws. He likes to walk guys down behind a high guard and is usually more aggressive. He's still very effective in doing so. I think PBF's reach advantage and the ability to get off first will help him overcome this though.

Mayweather will beat Pacquiao with the jab, lateral movement & straight right hand counters.... anytime Pac gets close to throw those flurries, Mayweather will either clinch or move inside were he will get off the better punches also as he is superior inside defensively.

I seem to remember you picking Mayweather to beat Pacquiao on points (but said Pac would still be no1 p4p because of the size difference ) when it looked as if the fight was a go ahead... so exactly what have you been saying forever ?
