Wasn't surprised in the least when I heard this. It's almost as if the alphabet organisations want to be a laughing stock.

You unify two titles and you're a Super Champion. Then, all you need to do is make 5 defences and now they just upgrade "normal" champions whenever they feel like it. All to squeeze some more sanctioning fees out of fighters.

The WBC have also re-named interem titles as "silver" titles as if that makes them any more important. Not quite as bad as the recently intruduced Diamond Belt. I wish they would all just **** off.

The WBA are an absolute disgrace these days, they should be stripped of their status as pasrt of the "big 4" if you ask me. I don't care how long they've been running what's relevant is today and they're beyond a joke now. The WBC seem to be trying card to catch them up, silver belts and diamond belts.:patsch

All they need now is a Champ in Recess and a Bronze Champ.

doesnt matter. for a guy to fight for a "title" they are supposed to be at least ranked 15th in the world. they guy he fought (pittman) shouldnt have been top 30....i mean, you just saw his opponents.....so i gues you are saying that sturm has done this his whole career...whats the big deal?
as for roy jones...since you want to bring him up
    first defense
Thomas Tate- 29-2 ranked 4 in the world. his expierence to that point, losing a close but unaimus dec to julian jackson, WBC champ. not one guy on sturms list even comes close to a Tate Caliber guy
moving up in weight..something sturm has never done
fighting undefeated james toney, eric lucas, mike mccallum, undefeated montel griffin, virgil hill, wba light heavy unification with lou del valle, 31-1 otis grant, IBF champ and unification with reggie johnson, undefeated julio gonzalez, roy has about 19 legit guys hes fought that were champions at the time, former champions, or future champions.....
nice comparison to sturm who has made 4 on his resume..and was knocked out by one of them, a former junior middleweight :deal

oh...and the biggest travesty of all, is that Sturm wouldnt even fight his fellow countrymen AA, in what would have been a mega fight for ages in germany.....but fights garbage the 14-0 Japanese middleweight (which is equivalent to seeing a flyweight from Samoa ) and the 16-0 horrible Pittman
and those guys are just at the top of his heap of garbage defenses

He went to court and refused to fight his mandatory challenger in Golovkin. The WBA's decision to elevate him to super champion means he won the court case. This super champ **** is basically like a ticket to duck your mandatory. What a joke the WBA is. I count the IBO more credibly these days.

Phew! Just in the nick of time, before Golovkin relieved him of his title!

Sturm: "If you have defended your title 7 times in a row, it is possible to become a superchamp. I feel very honoured."

Sturm can choice his opponent by himself now. He does not have to face a mandatory challenger for 21 months. In an exceptional case the period of 21 months can even expire to 24 months.

Sturm: "I want to fight the best and unify the titles. Number 1 for me is Kelly Pavlik now."

"My next fight will be in september/october, after the football world cup."
"In 6-8 weeks the trial against Universum will be decided in favor of me."
"On may 5th i will open my own gym in cologne."

Now Sturm only has to get a new TV-contract, but his marketer Ufa-Sports is already in negotiations with RTL for example.

That the fight with AA didn´t work out was not Sturm´s fault but Universum´s. Sturm said time and again he wants Abraham - and like I said in the past I think he would have had a good chance.

Those are all fighters of Universum. And if everything goes right Universum won´t get a new TV contract due to this politics.
