Yes, very good card it'll be then. 2 European title fights, Lomax-Purdy and Gavin Rees.

Macklin-Geale is a good shout, no doubt it'd end up being an eliminator of some sort (hopefully a final eliminator).

This is good news for barker, and his oppisition will be stepped up from now on.Macklin must have some type of eliminator or Title lined up for him to vacate.

Belghecham is a joke of a fighter to be getting a shot at the European title. Lee mauled him convincingly in their fight and made him look like a novice and then in his next fight he gets a shot like this!

Why is Barker not fighting Gevor for the title, since Macklin pulled out?

    Too true :good

If Macklin stopped ducking Barker on every level then we wouldn't be seeing the likes of Belghecham on this level though :deal

Let's see who Macklin has lined up before we jump to conclusions. If he fights a nobody you may very well be right. If he fights someone that gets him closer to a world title than Barker would then he is hardly ducking him is he. I think it will be the latter myself. Macklin was ready to fight Pirog not all that long ago, he is a much more dangerous opponent in my eyes so I seriously doubt Macklin is ducking Barker. We'll have to wait and see.

    C'mon Darren!!

He seems to have a touch everytime he goes ti fight for title it's vacant and against a average-ish opponent for that level. Hopefully win the title then have 3 defences and then a international fight and then by mid 2011 step up for world title challenge...i think he's still got a few things to touch up on.

Agreed 100% Lee lapsed in the last 2 rounds or so and i still think he won them rounds. Its basically going to be the same after seeing what he done against Lee, Barker might go for a knock out.

the thing is Barker isnt on this level either and if you think that Macklin is ducking Barker then you are even more deluded than I thought. Macklin would mash, splatter, obliterate the pumped up mockney, hype job, bum smasher inside FIVE rounds - seriously!

Here is how I genuinely see it.

    Macklin > Duddy > Lee > Barker

    :deal

If Barker knocked him out it would be making quite a statement. He has gone the distance with both Lee and N'Jikam. This fight will do Barker the world of good. It's not too big of a step up in terms of class which could end badly and a victory will set him up nicely for lucrative future fights. Good work by his management, fighting another nobody would have been disastrous.

Really? I think Duddy is the weakest of them all to be honest. I agree with the rest and I do think Macklin would most likely KO Barker too.

To be fair there, that was only done to wind my esteemed Irish friend up. I don't think macklin is necessarily avoiding barker but I won't be happy if his next fight isn't one that takes him further along the echelons of the world rankings. I don't agree that Macklin would necessarily smash, obliterate etc etc Barker either - Not to say he couldn't win - I just think it would be closer than SBW is giving him credit for.

Also 'SBW' i genuinely hope you are taking the mick there with regards to Duddy ?? That man is useless and is in no way shape or form the second best out of the 4 and I would even go as far as to say he is the worst of the lot BY SOME DISTANCE
