    I do miss those days of breaking promises to marrying someone actually being taken seriously and also the days of sparring matches taking place in full evening dress.

    From the sounds of it, Patterson didn't know the answer either.

    Was Moore at the best he could be for the fight ? I dont know. I dont think it's particularly important though. He'd been KO'd by lesser fighters.

    First Sweet Pea now we might lose McGrain for a while, dont tell me Mante is going to get banned again for sharing his hobbies.

    I'm being quiet on the subject of Patterson vs Charles, basically, despite him being my namesake, I do not know enough about Floyd Patterson.

    im not mistaken, i just know the difrence. its all true about the 2 month rest but archie must have spread himself very thin fighting that many times in a year. he never did it again. maybe archie just quit? maybe floyd MADE him quit? im just not going to include it as a good win for floyd since archie didnt "give best" as they used to say.

    Cus D'Amato was the arch enemy of the IBC/Carbo gang. He refused to have Patterson fight anyone with even a remote association with the IBC. So I think it's unlikely they fixed the fight to let D'Amato control the HW title. I don't Moore see giving up a chance at the big bucks of being HW champ for any money that D'Amato could come up with or with the money he'd make in a betting coup.

    I can't think of a HW championship fight from the 1930s to the early 70's that is less likely to be fixed in terms of motivation (not visual evidence) than Moore-Patterson.

    Moore just had a bad night.

    This is very hard to call, Pattersons speed is off the chart hes a force of nature, Charles was quick himself and the better technician. I can see Pattersons speed of hand/foot just being too much for Charles at times, but I also see Charles setting traps and scoring with counters and maybe punnishing Pattersons left hook lead at times. Not sure on this but I lean towards Charles

    LHW/HW doest matter as Patterson could always make LHW and force fed himself to weigh 188lbs and looked to be a MW when he retired

    Well, I think Floyd´s speed, power and style would trouble Charles. But at lhw his experience and beeing more aggressive would see him winning close but clear on points. Patterson just lacked the experience there. At hw however he had the experience to go with the rest and this would see him KOing Charles. Of course Patterson could win at lhw and Charles at hw.

    Patterson is one of those fighters that had some excellent strengths, speed and power but was also one of the most KD fighter in the division. He speed and power vs Moore and Ingo was stunning but he was also knocked down by 0-0-0 Pete Rademaker, Patterson took a better punch as he aged with experience

    Light heavyweight = Charles
    Heavyweight = Charles

    I think Charles overall was the better man but Floyd could be brilliant at times

    I say Charles wins both fights. I say that because I think his patient strategic style would be perfect for Patterson. Patterson was kind of like a more reserved version of Tyson, but he also had great heart.

    I just think Charles would outpoint Floyd, and eventually KO him once Floyd got anxious.

    Then again if the Moore Patterson fight had never occurred, I would have swore that Moore would win the fantasy match-up. So who knows...

    So what if he was kd'ed by a great amateur, I wouldnt be suprised if Marquez/Pacman got Kd'ed by a 0-0-0 Gamboa
