I mean for real if a fighter that is tall like 6'0 that fights in the junior featherweight or is 6'2 or 6'1 that is fighting at lightweight or is 6'3 that is fighting a ww or a junior mw. <<I mean seriously whats the big deal? If your a fighter then it don't matter how tall the fighters are. If a fighter can't deal with it then don't fight anymore. Look alot of smaller fighters have beaten bigger /taller fighters. Look i'll give 1 easy example Valuev is like what 7'0 and weighs like 330pounds but yet a fighter like Chagaev and Haye that are 6'2 weighing under 230 pounds beat that giant. Wlad lost to 6'2 Sanders. Paul Williams lost to Quintana. Cab lost to a smaller fighter before. Funeka lost to Campbell. I can go on and on. So come on people stop with your baby sh4t about taller fighters should move up in weight and blah/blah/blah. If you don't like it then don't watch boxing anymore.
Its bull****, everybody loves hearns but they rip williams for fighting at welter. If you can make the weight height is irrelevant.
I did not realize there were people complaining about tallness. That's ******ed! Height is definitely an advantage, but I don't see the problem with fighters fighting at whatever weight they want. If you can make a weight, fight at it. They only place where size really comes into play as a borderline "unfair" fight is at heavyweight where you can have a 195lb guy fighting a 260lb guy. Even then, I guess it just sucks to be the small man...thems the breaks.
A few corrections Corey Sanders is 6'4 only 2 inches shorter than Wladimir. Paul Williams is 6'3, Hearns is 6'1 (same reach though)
Most def..if someones complains about height and someone being to tall for a weight class is stupid..doesn't make any sense and don't know anything about boxing..is is so hard to see that people have different frames and carry weight better then others..these guzman fans are delusional
Because we dont have same day weigh ins anymore. So fighters are able to manipulate the weight for an advantage. I doubt Williams would be making welter if we had same day weigh ins.
For me, I dont complain about tallness I give a **** about it what I dont like and I think is like cheating is being in a weight class where you can take full advantage gaining 15+ pounds overnight for fight night I hate the way some fighters do it like Clottey, Margarito, Funeka, Baldomir, etc.. Its ****ing cheating in my eyes even if they go "playing by the rules" for me boxing is about skills, boxing and how well you can fight but whith these rules of today is making boxing a contest of who can cut more weight and be able to rehydrate for fight night then these *******s come fight night with a huge advantage over 10 pounds on the opponent thats cheating for me those fighters are not in the boxing sport its ridiculous how a fighter can take huge advantage over the other becuase of weight and not boxing skills...
Cheating? That means they have to break the rules. You say that it is cheating in your eyes only to go on and admit that they are "playing by the rules" which is pretty much the exact opposite of cheating. You can complain that the rules should be changed, you can't complain that the fighters fight at the weight where they feel they would have the most success under the current ruleset. It can never be cheating.
