It just saddens me how the hatred of the slick fighter has grown. Pretty soon nobody will adopt this style again because you won't be able to win with it.

My fave fighter was Pernell Whitaker. I don't think we'll be seeing anymore of this style in the future. Or very little.

Dont get me wrong, ive nothing against Abraham or Dirrell, and can enjoy both their styles, just not sure it will work well against each other.
Slick fighters hitting and not getting hit can be an artform, but, when it involves alot of holding it isnt quite the same thing.
Just dont think these 2 together will make for much of anything, hope im wrong cause I will be watching it

I expect Dirrell to be much better than the Froch fight. He knows his speed and skills carry to that level and will have more confidence. There were times with Froch when he reached to hold when Froch wasn't even throwing anything and was wide open to the body. Other times he leapt so far back from Froch's attacks that he couldn't reach in with anything more than a leaning jab.
Dirrell overestimated Froch's boxing and had a bit of an amatuerish attitude towards the ref. I expect him to be a lot more natural in there tonight and look much better.
Technically I'm not sure if Dirrell has much of an inside game, and was cautious of Frochs power, however AA doesn't charge in to close quarters as Froch does so I think Dirrell will feel happy to engage more.

That I'm fine with. It's the not hitting and not getting hit that bores me shitless.

There is a difference between being slick and being a runner. Dirrell is a proven runner, he did it against Froch and and the American commentry team said he had ran against another big puncher at domestic level (claiming he had embarassed himself that night).

He can run if he wants but dont expect him to win titles that way.

He just needs to show more aggression - he clearly has the talent but he is lacking in mental strengh, maybe he is protecting a weak chin, i dont know.

Against Froch he fell over, held, turned his back or put his head below Froch's waist everytime he got scared. That is not acceptable at Championship level.

How can it be if Dirrell is going to run the whole fight?

Putting your hands straight up in the air & moving your feet to the side as fast as you can with your back up against the ropes is flat out running.

    The Dirrell shuffle.

if youre talking about Dirrell, he not only didnt get his, he also didnt hit anyone in his last fight.....thats the art of a boring ass fight when you are a challenger going for a title

The Abraham-Dirrell fight will probably be a pretty boring affair.

For the guys who are commenting on the "slick" fighter. I'll continue on what others have said. Dirrell does have moments where he's slick such as when he was pinned in the corner and was able to avoid Froch's shots by dunking under. However, he has literally ran in fights against two big punchers (Froch and Stevens). Pernell Whitaker was a master at slipping punches...absolutely phenomenal. A lot of times Dirrell just seems terrified to be in the "danger zone".

    Yep.

People diss Froch, but at least we know that Abraham - Froch would be a war worth watching.

Its not that people dont like that style anymore....the hate for Dirrell is coming from the rabid Froch fans who know Froch got a gift...and are just trying to disgarce Dirrell as much as possible to cover up the fact that Froch lost and sucks.
