The point is one right call does not excuse the multitude of corrupt and bad calls he has made. After the things he has done he should not even be allowed in a Boxing arena.
That instance, it was mostly the hometown ringside physician's fault, though. A regular ring doctor could have done the check up job in under 20 seconds. But the guy wanted to be the cutman, there.
cole also called Dirrell "Anthony" during the fight, the mikes picked it up. Anthony is And'res twin brother. bottom line: ccole is a total inept referee and his presence in these big fights is a mistake choice or omen for potential corruption. probably unfortunatley the latter.
Cole was incompetent all the way around and probably helped Abraham as much as he helped Dirrell. He wasn't being impartial, he was just being incompetent as usual. There's a reason I always bring him up when there's a "worst referee" thread. He stands too far back from the action. He's afraid to get in there and break guys up, unless they're little guys, in which case he'll manhandle them. He has some of the worst angles out there and thus misses a lot of calls. He routinely blows calls. I think it's tough to say he was being biased towards Abraham. He missed clear knockdowns by both fighters. He fell for one of Abraham's acting jobs on a beltline punch, but missed two real low blows. He broke up the action at a time when Dirrell was against the ropes, but then he let the doctor close up Abraham's cut. He missed the headbutt that caused the cut. He missed the elbow that rocked Dirrell. He just sucks all the way around. And to think, he didn't even do as bad of a job as he did in John-Juarez I.
