I said it after the Cheik Kongo fight and ill say it again now Mir is too big he's muscle bound , the best the guy has ever looked was against Lesnar 2 & Big Nog , size and muscle does not give you strength Mir is too big and his athletisism has suffered because of it .

Did you see how easy Carwin pressured the guy , Mir is just too small for the bigger HW's thats unfortunate but the answer is not putting on 20lb's in 4 months by taking 8 shakes a day , the size doesnt suit him and he needs to trim back down , i heard the Kongo fight was his first camp with a S & C programme , by all means do a S & C programme but there is no nead to bulk up .

    Thoughts ?????????......................

I agree and stated myself that putting on 20 lbs that fast isn't going to help you. Mir needs to play his own game. He'll never out-muscle Lesnar no matter what he does, it's just not natural for him to fight that big. It was nice seeing him humbled again, but he'll be back, talkin his **** and grinnin all the way to the bank soon.

I dont think it helps either. Lets face it, Mir has taken more poundings while on his back than Tito's wife. I dont think he took Carwin as seriously as he should have. Not sayin he overlooked him but he should have concentrated at the job in hand instead of goin all WWE with Brock & the verbals

    awesome:lol:

I agree Mir looked too relaxed with Carwin, especially when he was pinned against the cage but after eating the first 2 uppercuts it was too late for him to realize he should've been taking him a lot more seriously

I don't think it would have mattered. Sounds like excuses to me. Carwin is just a bomb thrower. Its not like Mir even really had a chance to do anything. Carwin grabbed him pinned him to the cage and punched the **** outta him. THAT is what Carwin does. Mir looked bigger then Carwin anyway so I don't know what you mean he is "too small" for the bigger HW's. Carwin just plain won last night. Get over it.

    You dont like Mir ??????

I think because of size Mir will never beat the likes of Lesnar , Carwin and the likes , as you can bet your bottom dollar this will be the start of the ere of the super heavy weight and the Lesnar's & Carwin's of the world wont be the last .

I actually like Frank Mir , the new humbled version of Mir that is , TBH i was gutted he lost because i really dont like Carwin's style he's another Lesnar with less wrestling ability and better hands , i hope Cain Velasquez demolishes them all if im honest !!!!!

Im talking about natural size , get over what you idiot ?????? :huh

Frank Mir weigh's 240 give or take a couple of pounds he would of been 270+ in the cage on fight night , thats too big , he is too muscle bound , evidence Mir is too small for the larger HW's is his fights with Carwin & Lesnar , two blow outs , and pound for pound Mir has a better more rounded skill set than both , wrestling aside !!!!!

why do people say things like 'wrestling aside' as if wrestling isnt part of whats important in mma

ya cant put wrestling aside because its a massive part

its like saying carwins more skilled than mir, if you put jits aside

carwin has better hands than mir & better wrestling

mir has better jits & experience.. powerful hands & good boxing + good wrestling caliber > jits & a **** sure striker in mir

Agree'd wrestling is a huge part in MMA never more true in the HW division , imo Mir has an advantage over Carwin & Lesnar in every aspect of the sport aside from wrestling , is that clearer ?????

Cain is a wrecking machine with those hands.

I don't really like Mir. I met him once and he was pretty arrogant but that's neither here nor there. It's just his overall demeanor that I find annoying, but yes he's a very good fighter nonetheless

I think, you guys hold Mir in too high a regard. He's a good BJJ guy, pretty good subs, and he's a pro. But, he's not this extraordinary fighter everyone thinks he is.

His size wasn't the problem. Although I do think that he should go for a thinner, quicker version of himself... trying to use his speed and agility to his advantage rather than matching strength with strength.

However, that wasn't the problem in this fight. If you look throughout Mir's career... he has always had a problem dealing with and recovering from damage. All 5 of his losses have came in the same type of manner. Either someone hurts him on his feet and finishes him on the ground with strikes... or someone takes him to the ground... and finishes him on the ground with strikes. I have always felt like he didn't have very good punch resistance. It sure doesn't help matters when his last two opponents (that beat him) hit like a mule.

What Mir does have is good striking technique, good movement, very good submissions, great agility for his size, speed, and experience.

What are you talking about? Mir was 265 at the weigh ins. I doubt Mir has seen 170 since he was a teenager.

Oh and get over the fact that one of the most inconsistent HW out there just lost.

Frank's size is fine he looked quick and light on his feet but didnt fight smart and got KTFO. Being 245 would not have helped his chin or problem anyones vs Shane Carwin.
