I say that's a knockdown. Abraham also knocked Dirrell down but the ref didn't count that either albeit it looked like AA tripped him. Such a bad ref and a bizarre fight I felt the strangeness of the fight since round 1.

    It was a Slap-Push combo.

his knees don't touch down but he is held up by the ropes.

Difficult to say. The ropes kept him up, so on that score it should be a KD but then the 'punch' was a push with the inside of the glove, so not a legit shot. On balance i'd say it's a fair call not to score it as a KD.

If he holds himself up using the ropes, its a KD. Knee doesn't have to touch floor.

pretty sure if the ropes prevent what would ordinarily be a kd...it should be counted as a knockdown regardless of whether the knee touches.

good example is margo falling into and being held up by the ropes right before he was knocked down by mosely.

No KD.. wasn't a clean punch, more of a pushing of Abraham off balance.

    Good non-call.

The rules state that if the ropes keep you up it should be ruled a knockdown.

yea thats how i saw it. Dirrell doesn't land a punch so no KD is the right call.

It's more a push/slap than a punch. It could have been called but I think this is one of the few moments when Cole didn't screw up too badly.

That was also some dangerous defense by Dirrell, slipped those two punches by no more than an inch. Impressive, but I wish he'd keep his hands up a bit more.

True, but they also say a punch has to land with the knuckle part of the glove.

Dirrell hit him with the inside of his glove/forearm. That is not a correct punch.

    Thanks for this btw!:thumbsup
