I didn't see it but i followed the round by round, it sounded like he played it pretty safe and didn't look all that good but still, a wins a win.

lmao... 2 minutes into the second round and the German broadcast is cutting to people in the audience because the action is so boring. Like "...hey, look who's here sitting ringside..." - some blonde haired chick. Gamboa is STILL having alot of trouble ad******g to the more conventional style his trainers have forced him to adopt since the knockdown era. He's having a posing contest with one of his doormats. At this point the kid is nowhere near as good as the hype train passengers will try and tell you. He may have a breakthrough - doubt it personally, but right now he's a man confused. Regardless. People don't know what they're looking at. Business as usual.

    EDIT

    a d j u s t i n g is a banned word for some reason.

He looked pretty uninspired and disinterested. Got his bell rung pretty good in the same round he scored a knockdown.

    Pretty nondescript performance.

He's been working hard on that lead left hook and the thing is just useless.

Over the last two years it's been pretty nil. All of it.

Thanks for the responses. I've always favoured Lopez if they meet and maybe this confirms it. Then again it was probably just a stay busy fight after the Mtagwa massacre and it sounds as if he wasn't that up for it.

I'd frankly never heard of him but he could turn out to be a good fighter himself. It was a shame that this fight was on this weekend when the schedules were so packed.

I expected a tough fight anyway. The limited footage on Barros showed a fairly gifted counterpuncher with power, good reflexes and head and upper body movement, ready to give Gamboa some looks. He also showed a very good chin and took few chances most of the time, so it went 12 and Yuri won easily in a forgettable but okay fight.

The thing is: Gamboa eats coming forward type of fighters up, because he's excellent taking you apart for your mistakes and openings. Once he fights someone who makes few mistakes and waits for his, it's a bad for excitement because El Ciclon is not the type to come forward and effectively outbox the counterpuncher. When he did knock Barros down and went wild, he got rocked by a huge overhand right Barros was waiting to throw all night, so then Yuri switched back to boxing mode, lot of movement but not so many punches, trying to open Barros' up, who didn't make stupid mistakes. The last 3 rounds saw more action and chances (especially the wild 12th) with Gamboa landing some bombs but Barros also having some success, and in the end, it went to the cards with Yuri winning wide.

Better for the experience than for the fans, but I expected something like this. Keep an eye on Barros for the future!
