I realise you probably know this already, but just thouht I'd point it out. Considering that he lost a v close (some say incorrectly) decision to Froch and just beat a lot of people (including mine) tournament's favourite, Dirrell could very easily not get through.

    Kessler beats Froch
    Ward beat Green.

    Kessler beats Green
    Ward beat Dirrell

If these results happen, if my calcs are right, then Dirrell is out no matter what happens in Froch vs AA.

So basically, I think that if you're a Dirrell fan (I'm not) you'll be supporting Froch to beat Kessler (I will be).

That is corrrect - Dirrell has to beat Ward, otherwise why should he go through with only 2 points??

what happens if those results stand but with froch beating kessler?

green would have 0 and go out - kessler and dirrell would have 2 points each

    That's correct.

Though I don't really know why you'd support Froch against Kessler on behalf of Dirrell. You should support Dirrell to beat Ward!

Even if Froch beats Kessler, it doesn't guarantee Dirrell getting through - Green and Kessler meet in round three so one of them will potentially either go above Dirrell with a stoppage win or be in a tie break with him if they win on points.

If Kessler wins by ko, he would have three points and be above Dirrell.

If Kessler gets a two point win, would be a tie break between him and Dirrell which would relate to the judges cards in all of their fights.

You made it sound like it's not in Dirrell's hands anymore to get into the semis.

    Beat Ward and thats it.

I've been more impressed with Direll so far than Ward.

I have no idea what Green's gonna bring either.
This Super Six thing is still up for grabs.

If Kessler isn't washed-up I would imagine he'll beat Froch. But I just dont know.
I think the qualification for semis is going to be close all the way. If Direll misses out it might be because of that decision in the Froch fight, and that would be unfortunate.

I think the Dirrell performance against AA was more impressive than the Ward performance against Kessler.

Why shouldn't Dirrell go out to beat Ward? He can do it - all these fighters can beat each other, that is why it is so exciting.

He could make it to the playoffs...

    if

    AA
    &
Green lose the rest of their fights....

& dirrel wins against ward (which is possible since they are friends)

he can make the playoff section

    Lots of what ifs.

West Virginia could have missed the Final Four if they lost to Kentucky. But they didn't.

Let it play out. Only 4 fights completed in the first round, 5 to go.

If Dirrell beats Ward then he doesn't have to worry about what anybody else does, he would definately be through. It's pretty much mathmatically impossible for him to fail to qualify if he gets to four points.
